This job helps achieve these goals by solving problems for and with our vessel crew, providing resources to that crew and supporting them in the important jobs that they do.

This job also works to ensure that crew are fully trained on safety and on compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.Position SummaryThe Vessel Human Resources Manager manages and supports the development of HR programs, procedures and policies on one or more vessels: organizational planning, employment, compensation, employee relations, and training.

This position is also responsible for ensuring that crew are educated about and in compliance with local, state and federal employment related laws and federal regulations that correspond to the fishing fleet.

The Vessel Human Resources Manager is responsible for the routine tracking of various programs related to promotions, pay increases and wage and position reviews.

The position is the HR liaison to various different departments within the company.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement comprehensive strategic workforce plans for assigned vessels, oversee and support succession planning on the vessels to include: communication, monitoring, and supporting managers in developing crew for future rolesOversee communication and information dissemination to vessel crew related to benefits available to Develop and execute fleet-wide communication initiatives on important company initiativesDevelop and then assist with implementation of improved performance management processes across all jobs on the vesselPartner with Safety Director on expanding and improving safety initiatives on the vesselsEnhance efforts to provide timely and useful information to the crew on all benefit mattersPartner with vessel management to continuously improve vessel communication, crew morale, and performance, reduce turnover, identifying causes of turnover and developing initiatives to address these causesConduct regular audits of all areas of responsibilityEstablish and execute KPI for crew readiness: coordination, documentation, information and process flowsCreate crew engagement initiatives that can be rolled out on fleet and vessel level for all crewIdentify, evaluate and implement expanded solutions to improve training for crewWork with the HR team to implement ASC’s Employee Value Proposition in recruiting effortsProvide input into portions of the annual HR budget, including crew recruitment, orientations and meetings, professional consulting, employee seminars, service awards and vessel related office suppliesManage HR aspects of crew-up, rotations, vessel staffing, crew compensation, and vessel returnsManage workplace investigations as needed and assist in claims/injury investigationsManage retention and turnover on assigned vesselsPartner with the Claims Department in managing and mitigating claims
