Providence is calling an Assistant Resource Medication Program Coordinator Medication Assistance Program (0.5 FTE, Days) to Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital in Hood River, ORApply today! Applicants that meet qualifications will receive a text message with some additional questions from our Modern Hire system.We are seeking a Assistant Resource Medication Program Coordinator Medication Assistance Program who will be responsible to access medication assistance programs offered by pharmaceutical manufacturers, government, non-government organizations, Providence Hood River (PHRMH) Memorial Hospital, and retail pharmacies within the community to assist patients/clients with obtaining medications needed for health maintenance. These organizations offer either free drugs, replacement drugs or reduced fee drugs when their products are prescribed for outpatients or administered to inpatients who meet specified eligibility criteria. Potentially eligible patients/clients may be referred from a variety of points within the Columbia Gorge Service area and surrounding areas. Once a patient/client has been referred, the incumbent will work with the patient/client, physician, and organization to ascertain eligibility, file all required forms and documentation, and arrange for drug distribution to the patient. The incumbent will also work with the PHRMH pharmacy manager in accessing drug replacement programs for drugs used on qualifying indigent inpatients to bridge access to medication resources.Incumbent is also responsible for program development (i.E. presentations to community organizations, medical community, marketing, expanding access to clients, budget, etc.).MAJOR CHALLENGES:Maintain organization and efficiency to handle multiple responsibilities and quickly shift priorities in an environment of constant interruptions.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of patients, physicians, care givers and manufacturers.Ability to organize work, serve clients, maintain detailed information about program performance, while expanding services to serve more clients.In this position you will have the following responsibilities:Maintains updated information on pharmaceutical manufacturer medication assistance programs.Accepts referrals from health care providers for patients who may be eligible for these drug programs.Determines patient/client eligibility and processes application forms or refers patients/clients back to Regional Business Office for system assistance through PHRMH.Performs and maintains scripted medication histories on program admissions.Assists eligible patients/clients in obtaining drug supplies from pharmaceutical manufacturers or other organizations.Works with Hospital pharmacy manager to set up a process for obtaining free replacement drugs used on eligible patients from participating pharmaceutical manufacturers.Maintains statistical data on the number of patients/clients served, amount of assistance provided (drugs, dollar value, etc.), and other information pertinent to position.Establishes effective working relationships with PHR physicians, care managers and other care providers.Refers patients/clients to other assistance programs when appropriate.Administers other non-drug patient assistance upon request.Consults with clinical pharmacist on alternative drug therapies for specific patients in order to maximize available assistance.Develops operational budget in collaboration with management.Develops flyers/brochures and provides presentations to educate the community (patients and providers) about the PHRMHs Medication Assistance Program.Reviews, revises, and develops program policies, procedures, and scope of services to ensure compliance with rules/regulations and PH& S core values and mission.Qualifications:Required qualifications for this position includes:1 year experience in a healthcare positionSpanish and English speakingBoard Certified Pharm Tech CertificationPreferred qualifications for this position includes:Bachelor’s Degree in Business or health care or Associate Degree and equivalent experience will be consideredExperience as a pharmacy technician, clerk or buyerAbout Providence in OregonAs the largest healthcare system and largest private employer in Oregon, Providence offers exceptional work environments and unparalleled career opportunities.The Providence Experience begins each time our patients or their families have an encounter with a Providence team member and continues throughout their visit or stay.
