Purpose of Job We are currently seeking a talented Policy and Performance Underwriter Lead for the San Antonio Home Office I, Colorado Springs Campus, Phoenix Campus, Tampa Campus, Tampa Crosstown, Chesapeake, or 100% Remote Work Environment.
This individual will independently gather and analyze data, and teach others on the utilization of data, to conduct root cause analysis to proactively evaluate and recommend changes to or establish a point of view on the Underwriting appetite for product acceptability.
They will serve as a delegate for leadership and effectively communicate and share information across P&C and the organization, tailoring messaging for audiences ranging from peers to senior executives
Develops, implements, and maintains P&C Underwriting policies and processes to achieve enterprise priorities, ensuring compliance with state regulations.
Partners with internal stakeholders to develop, implement, and maintain P&C Underwriting policies and products.
Participates in the development and implementation of team initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:
Applies expert knowledge of contracts, underwriting programs, guidelines, and processes.
Facilitates the development and implementation of business guidelines and strategies consistent with company policy and goals.
Researches, develops, and implements high quality business proposals that simplify, standardize, and automate processes meeting regulatory and policy requirements.
Facilitates the effective execution of underwriting programs, guidelines and processes.
Monitors performance and leads the development of new solutions or changes to underwriting policies, programs, products and processes.

Works independently while performing the most complex work assignments.
Resolves issues and navigates through obstacles with minimal to no supervision.
Advises senior leadership on complex and unique assignments.
Facilitates the development of underwriting educational programs/tools, training/mentoring messages, and/or communications for delivery to internal and external audience.
Develops Standard Operating Procedures.
Responsible for monitoring and reporting results to senior leadership.
Facilitates complex projects or initiatives for new and revised underwriting processes or solutions.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree
OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a Degree.
8 or more years Experience in P&C, Project Management, Process Engineering, Supplier Management, or Channel Management
Expert knowledge of relevant industry practices, trends, and regulatory requirements
Expert knowledge of: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access; Data Analysis Tools; and any other applicable Internal/External System
Preferred Experience:
2 or more years of experience of building and executing controls and proven track record of successfully managing issues through the issue management lifecycle.
Strong ability to present analysis/findings in a manner that conveys understanding, influences various levels of management, garners support for recommendations, and influences business strategy.
Strong business acumen, professional presence, and proven ability to influence change at all levels to include senior leaders and/or EMG.
Advanced knowledge of existing data analytics tools, as well as emerging technologies, for example, ADS, Tableau, or SAS.
Master’s Degree and/or CPCU Designation.
SAFe Agile certification or experience working in Agile environment to include using Rally.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently and work in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:
USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive.
You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position.
The salary range for this position is: $88,200
– $158,900* (this does not include geographic differential it may be applied based on your work location)
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
*Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.
Shift premium: will be addressed on an individual-basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
