Payroll Specialist

This is a Contract position in Lincoln, NH posted September 14, 2021.

Overview: We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team.

A successful Payroll Specialist will be customer-focused, self-motivated and possess an innate ability to establish strong working relationships at all levels within the organization.

Must have a high level of learning agility (quickly learn, apply, then master), superb excel and data management skill sets, driven by customer service, problem solving, and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities: Responsible for maintaining confidentiality with highly sensitive compensation information.

Run Bi-Weekly (review and upload timesheets), Semi-Monthly, and Monthly payrolls.

Administers the payroll processes for exempt and non-exempt positions and provides accounting for payroll which includes maintaining records on tax, 401K, healthcare, and other for multiple entities.

Support the Assist.

Controller with sales commission payroll responsibilities.

Creating and posting journal entries.

General Ledger account reconciliations (if needed).

Work closely with ExponentHR and HR on payroll tax and payroll change matters.

Support internal and external audit requirements.

Maintain all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures.

Monitor and manage 401k, benefits, garnishments and any other required withholdings.

Process year-end reporting requirements and issue W-2s.

Qualifications: 5 Years of Experience with payroll systems (ExponentHR Preferred) Degree In Accounting or Business Admin preferred Multi-state, multi-entity payroll processing experience for salaried, hourly and commission only employees Payroll Certifications a plus (CPP, CPM, PCP) Working knowledge of current tax and payroll laws, 401k, and Section 125 compliance laws Experience with benefit plans Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks High level of written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Ability to maintain confidential information Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong Excel skills preferred Teamwork oriented, working with all levels and departments of the organizationOther Skills/AbilitiesLanguage SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.Environmental RequirementsWill be required to work in an office environment and possibly, occasionally in the field.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms.

The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
