Payroll Manager
Classification: Exempt
Reports to: Director of HR & Payroll Services
Summary/Objective:
The Payroll Manager serves as the primary contact for our client’s payroll needs. The Payroll Manager is expected to consistently provide excellent service to each client and have fantastic organizational, time management skills, the ability to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5+ years of experience processing high volume multi-state payrolls daily preferred.
- Strong understanding of payroll tax principles and wage and hour laws.
- Payroll certification is preferred but not required.
- PEO experience is preferred but not required.
- Certified Payroll Professional designation is preferred but not required.
Essential Functions:
- Full cycle processing of numerous payrolls on a daily basis, managing multi-state payroll clients and complex payrolls.
- Manages Payroll Specialist(s).
- Creates weekly payroll schedules and assigns tasks to the payroll team accordingly. * Train clients and employees on payroll system.
- Improve client retention by building and maintaining a client relationship based on trust and dependability, quality service and exceeding client expectations. * Manage client payroll changes such as new hire on-boarding, salary adjustments, special payments, tax allocations and payroll deductions.
- Research and respond to client inquiries for guidance on pay practice and payroll tax questions.
- Collaborate with internal partners to resolve issues and ensure that the client’s expectations are met.
- Reviews and creates policies and procedures for the payroll department and trains new employees on these policies and procedures.
- Research, troubleshoot and resolve client system problems.
- Identify potential problems and/or compliance issues related to the Fair Labor Standards Act (Exempt v. Non-Exempt, minimum wage, overtime, etc.), state wage and hour laws, workers compensation classifications, employee terminations and final pay and employee classifications (full-time, part-time, seasonal and
temporary).
- Maintain client and employee files including scanning and storing electronically. * Process new employee paperwork including Form I-9 and maintain compliance. * Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Physical Demands:
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filings are required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. This position may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Travel:
Some travel may be required as needed.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
