Ensures accurate calculation of wages, tax withholding, and company deductions.

Being a Payroll and Benefits Supervisor prepares statistical reports on employee pay, bonuses; vacation, sick, disability and workers compensation leave; taxes, withholding, etc.

Oversees the distribution of paychecks or arranges direct deposit programs.

Ensures payroll records are updated and reports on any matters of interest.

Ensures employee benefits are implemented timely.

Makes day-to-day decisions within the department regarding payroll and benefits.

Process payroll functions, benefit enrollments and maintains the HRIS systems.

Provides clerical and administrative support to the department by performing the following duties in accordance with the policies and procedures established by Birmingham Green.

.Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree and knowledge of principles of personnel administration with at least two years’ experience in a human resources department.Alternate preparation such as an associate’s degree with three years of experience preferably in Nursing Home or other healthcare field.Minimum of 3 -5 years’ experience in processing payroll and benefits administration.Experience with payroll and benefits (HRIS) systems required.

ADP and Onshift systems experience a plus.Knowledge of IRS tax rules as they apply to payroll, W2s, deductions, etc.Knowledge of I-9 forms and requirements.Proficient in use of computer, email and MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher (Access a plus).Proven ability in multitasking various projects.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Strong communication and writing skills.Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.May assist department supervisors in developing long-range job projections.May assists the director with a variety of projects when requested.Caring, compassionate, creative, and energetic personality and must enjoy working with the senior population.Must be able to meet tight deadlines and must be flexible to changing workflow and demands.Essential Functions:Prepare and process a variety of human resources and payroll actions containing confidential and sensitive information.Calculate miscellaneous wages and deductions and enter payroll data in the payroll system.Maintain payroll and HR systems by verifying accuracy of data entered by managers, reviewing punches and various reports.Monitor and input attendance and timecard records as needed; follow-up for supporting documents as needed and communicate need for disciplinary action to supervisor.Prepare, review, and distribute a variety of payroll source documents, reports and payroll data requests as requested by department heads.Research payroll discrepancies and initiate payroll corrections via manual checks.Verify and process all requests PTO payouts.Update employee changes in payroll system, i.e., new hire, termination, pay changes and address changes and maintain appropriate documentation.Provide administrative support such as filing, updating documents, copying files, preparing, and distributing employee communications.Responsible for maintaining the payroll process documentation.Responsible for compliance of I-9 documentation and maintaining I-9 files.Administer employee insurance working with insurance brokers and plan carriers.Works with the Human Resources Director to oversee the administration of multi-tiered employee benefits programs, including plans such as retirement, health, life, dental-, vision-, short
– and long-term disability, and employee assistance program.Works with the Director of Human Resources and benefit brokers to secure benefits and maintain cost effective use of benefits.Conducts new employee orientations; informs new employees of benefits programs, policies, and related enrollment deadlines.Calculate employee payroll insurance deductions based on enrollment.Coordinate yearly Open Enrollment meetings with employees and broker.

Arrange for distribution of materials from carriers on a timely basis.Completes Salary, benefits, and other HR related surveys.Reconciliation of all benefits invoices with enrollments and ADP system deductions.Verify and process all requests for tuition reimbursements and PTO payouts.Maintain HRIS System.Process all merit and/or across the board increases, including employee letter.BenefitsWe offer a competitive package of benefits and perks, which includes:Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, life insurance, legal guard plan and pet insurance23 days paid time off (employees can accrue up to 500 hours of paid time off)Retirement plans through the Virginia Retirement System (VRS)
