Payroll Assistant

Description:IAM Hourly represented employees who currently
work at the main (Sunnyvale/Palo Alto) unit, Santa
Cruz, VAFB or Eastern Range facilities must apply to
open requisitions on Brass Ring to be considered for
the position.

ACCOUNTANT – LABOR DISTRIBUTION AND PAYROLL
OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:
Review, survey, investigate and audit the accuracy of
all labor distribution and payroll payments. Maintain
control records necessary to insure proper accounting
for employee rates and earnings, and authorized
payroll deductions.

WORK PERFORMED
– Perform work either through manual routines or by
interacting with various computer related devices:
Maintain earnings ledgers and control of statutory
deductions for employees on domestic, foreign or other assignments requiring unusual practices concerning payroll taxes and reports.

– Prepare recaps of payrolls, taxes, and internal
deductions collected and initiate request for check to
cover transfer to funds for payrolls, statutory
deductions, and internal payroll deductions collected.

– Audit, establish controls, and account for all
documents affecting employee authorized deductions
such as withholding, U.S. Savings Bonds, Credit
Union, Union Dues, and Savings Plans.

– Analyze and prepare reports for Intercompany
billings for labor in accordance with Accommodation
Sales Orders.

– Analyze and correct payroll expense
ledger accounts and redistribute foreign field service
payments from expense to direct labor.

– Provide audit verification of direct labor distribution
for employees as recorded on timecards and/or Data
Acquisition Systems, investigate erroneous charges
and initiate adjusting entries as required.

– Reconcile labor distribution to payroll, control and
clear labor distribution suspense, process and control
labor distribution and payroll reporting from bases
and tracking.

– This is a part-time position.

– Strong verbal and written communication and
customer service skills
– Experience responding to internal customer
inquiries
– Perform with a high level of accuracy
– Ability to meet tight deadlines
– This facility requires special access so all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen.
Desired Skills:
– Payroll Experience- Experience with SAP, FICO and CATS
