Overview:
Reports To: Mortgage Underwriting and Credit Policy Manager
Primary Functions: Responsible for researching, developing, and documenting loan products and internal credit policy, and for training mortgage origination and operations staff on products and credit policies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor investor and guarantor memo releases for policy and procedural changes; prepare RE Investor memos announcing changes for distribution.
- Create and maintain product summaries for Alaska USA Real Estate and Mortgage Portfolio loans.
- Create and maintain Alaska USA overlay fact sheet; periodically review and update Mortgage FAQs on MORC.
- Research guidelines for potential new investors and/or product offerings. Provide executive management with summary of research results.
- Create, maintain, and implement standardized loan product and credit policy training for all origination and operations staff.
- Work closely with RE Lending Compliance Officer to ensure all Alaska USA mortgage credit policy meets current regulatory compliance requirements.
- Maintain a current knowledge of existing laws, statutes, regulations, ordinances, policies, and procedures pertaining to real estate and mortgage lending.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree in Business Administration or management.
Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education: At least five years in real estate lending, with at least two years underwriting experience preferable. Advanced industry coursed in real estate lending recommended.
Experience/Skills: Proven ability to underwrite and/or process conventional, FHA, RD, and VA loans. Must be familiar with all investor guidelines. DE CHUMS and VA SAR designations preferred. Knowledge and understanding of the mortgage loan origination, processing, underwriting, and closing/disbursement process: regulatory compliance requirements; and Desktop Underwriter and Loan Prospector required.
