Overview: The Human Resources Manager is responsible for providing management, administrative and operational support to the organization by performing a variety of HR duties including but not limited to staffing, benefits, performance management, employee relations, labor relations, leaves of absence, workers compensation, employee safety, training, human resources information systems, employee satisfaction, unemployment insurance and Joint Commission compliance.
The Human Resources Manager may also assist with other human resources functions as assigned.
The Human Resources Manager contributes to the development and administration of programs related to the above mentioned human resources functions to meet the companys personnel goals and objectives.This position is responsible for ensuring that appropriate, timely, accurate, understandable and professional information and service is provided to all customers of the Human Resources Department.

The employee shall support San Gabriel Valley Medical Centers strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
Responsibilities: Tasks/DutiesOversees employment issues, recruitment, salary administration, employee relations, recruitment, labor relations, leave of absences, benefits, workers compensation, training and development.Oversees employee terminations by issuing all applicable separation forms and documents and by conducting exit interviewsProcesses employee terminations in HRISNotifies Nursing Office, IT, and other departments needing to know of employee terminationsReviews and replies to unemployment claims through effective and timely submission of employer feedbackReviews and addresses employee relations issuesConducts employee investigationsSupports management with employee counselingAssists with labor relations including responses to union grievancesResponsible for workers compensation activities including, but not limited to revising employee injury report, referring injured employee to industrial clinic, submitting Workers’ Compensation forms and reports to employees and WC insurance in a timely fashion, notifying employees supervisor, and creating monthly reports.Facilitates communication between injured employee, human resources, employee supervisor, industrial clinic physician, WC carrier, and Corporate WC Coordinator for efficient administration of cases.Coordinates Employee Safety Committee and Accident Prevention Team meetings and agenda.Provides accurate report of injuries, coordinates modified work program, and cooperatively works with Corporate WC Coordinator on litigated cases.Coordinates with appropriate personnel the completion of ergonomic assessments to enhance employee safety.Supervises HR staff including but not limited to compliance with work schedules and other organizational policies and expectations.Provides feedback to Administration on staffs performance.Provides support to HR staff as needed for the successful completion of their duties.Performs other duties that are consistent with meeting departmental and organizational goals and objectives.Judgement and decision makingHas the ability to recognize and deal with the correct sequence of priorities.Refers problems better handled to Administration.Relationship with othersInteracts with colleagues and other employees with ease and common courtesy.Presents a positive image of the hospital to employees, visitors, physicians and members of the public.Handles telephone information with courtesy, accuracy and respect for confidentiality.Maintains a good rapport with outside companies/vendors.Planning and time utilizationOrganizes self and priorities such that tasks are completed within the designated timeframes.InitiativeAssist colleagues as time permits.Demonstrates a willingness to learn, accepts new responsibilities with enthusiasm.Performs duties and responsibilities with minimal guidance.
Qualifications: Education/Training/ExperienceBachelors Degree in Business Administration or related fieldMinimum 3 years Human Resources supervisory experience in an acute healthcare setting with a unionized workforce a plusRequires basic computer skills, excellent organizational & prioritization skillsExcellent communications skillsProficient in computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and, InternetLicenses/CertificationsProfessional Human Resources Designation (SHRM-HRCI) preferred
