Brooklyn Public Library is looking for an HR Generalist to join their Human Resources d epartment.

The H R Generalist is a curious professional who is interest ed in the multiple disciplines associated with this ever -c hanging field .

Reporting to BPL’s Assistant Vice President of Human Resources, the HR Generalist will play a key role in the organization.

Using excellent communication and collaboration skills, the successful candidate will engage with most aspects of the full employee life cycle , including human r esources i nformat ion s ystems and data management, benefits, employee training, labor and em ployee relations, and recruitment /talent a c quisition .

The H R Generalist will receive day -to
– day guid ance and will be encouraged to establish cooperative working relationships across the department a nd acros s the entire library system.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in BPL’s new hire orientation and onboarding process
  • Facilitate training sessions as needed and engage with BPL’s learning management system
  • Assist with emp loyee data maintenance using BPL’s HRIS system
  • Engage i n employee /labor relations matters using relevant contract and organizational policies
  • Prepare reports and conduct analysis
  • A pply best practices to help create an informed and compliant workforce
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience , prefer ably in a non
    – profit environment
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills
  • Facilitation and public speaking skills are preferred
  • Able to navigate complex employee issues, manage multiple projects, and work both independently and collaboratively
  • A b le to make data
    – informed decisions with strong analytical skills
  • Willing ness to engage with staff both in person and virtually
  • Commitment to uphold ing the practices and principles of diversit y , equity and inclusion
  • Knowledge of the trends and regulations impacting the Human Resources field, as well as the current trends impacting organizational culture
  • Ex perience working with Microsoft Office 365 and comfortable with learning other technologies
