Position OverviewThe Payroll Manager is accountable for successful execution of the overall US and Canadian payroll processes, owning the day-to-day relationship with payroll vendors.This role serves as the liaison between IT, Finance, Treasury, Internal/External Audit, Benefits, and third party vendors regarding any payroll and tax related matters.

The payroll manager is responsible for all tax reporting, tax records and garnishment activity and ensures the liabilities and expenses are accurately calculated, documented and funded in accordance with all levels of tax agency requirements.

When you work for Hexion, you are partnering with a company that is not only focused on delivering value but on doing it in a safe, ethical and environmentally responsible manner.Company DistinctionThis exciting opportunity is part of Hexion Inc.Job ResponsibilitiesProvide direct oversight for US and Canadian payroll operationsProvide oversight for time & attendance solutions for North AmericaEnsures timely and accurate gross to net pay for all associatesOversees calculation and confirmation of the off-cycle pay processMaintain SOX controls for Payroll matters and ensures regulatory SOX compliancePerforms payroll audit functionsMonitors and accounts for inbound and outbound electronic files to GL and third-party vendorsCovers for team members in back-up role for vacation and/or high-volume work effortsResponsible for the reconciliation of third party interfaces that include direct deposits, taxes, and garnishmentsResponsible for year-end processing and procedures, including W2’s and T4’sMonitors the payroll system to ensure it is operating properly and integrity of the data is assuredInterprets tax notices, regulatory changes, and system upgrades as they relate to tax and garnishmentsServes as primary contact with ADP Tax Service and government agencies, including resolving tax notices and discrepancies for all current and prior FEINs.

Interface with applicable governing authorities.Performs periodic audits to ensure processes and adherence to policy and procedures.Responsible for all tier 2 payroll related tickets from HR Ticketing systemLeads system enhancements, fixes and upgrades.

Participates in testing and necessary system configuration.Leads a team of payroll analysts, responsible for their development and growthMinimum Qualifications6+ years of experience in payroll processing, requiredStrong payroll vendor management experienceFamiliar with payroll operations and administrationExperience creating and maintaining payroll SOX controls/narrativesStrong PC skills.

Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.Previous experience supervising othersCritical thinkerProject management abilities Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate to various levels of management to clarify needs and gather business solution requirementsStrong problem solving skills.
