Scope: Responsible for direct managerial responsibility of the company’s fuel station, retail, and quick-serve restaurant operations to ensure achievement of solid business results as measured by customer satisfaction, valuing & validating of employees, and meeting or exceeding financial targets. Provides leadership, direction, mentoring, and training to salaried managers and hourly employees, using a servant leadership approach, that fosters a high-performance work environment. Conducts company business and executes programs on behalf of the company in a professional manner and with a whole company approach. As knowledge of company’s operations is acquired, the progression of the VP position may grow to include oversight over other operations units with managers of those areas reporting directly to this position. Expected to be an Executive Committee member within 6-8 months.Responsibilities: Executive leadership of the company’s truck stop operations departments, to include the diesel fueling lanes, driver services, retail and quick-serve restaurant operations, and gas station. Develops and maintains operating procedures for the departments, making revisions as needed; monitors compliance with these procedures to assure departmental efficiency and optimal levels of customer service. Sets high standards, and holds employees accountable, for delivery of the company’s world class customer experience customer service initiatives. Answers technical questions and provides guidance for undocumented procedures. Supervises and assists department managers in preparation of departmental budgets; schedules expenditures,analyzes variances and initiates corrective action to meet sales objectives and control costs. Participates in formulating & administering company policies, and in developing long-range goals, objectives, and the implementation of WCCE standards in compliance with our mission/vision statement. Provides leadership, direction, mentoring, and training to management and hourly employees, using a servant leadership approach, that fosters a high-performance work environment. Demonstrate strong leadership, team building and decision-making skills, resulting in highly productive relationships with employees and peers. Ensures management team conduct effective employee performance evaluations in a timely manner; identify training and development needs of their direct reports; discipline and terminate employees as necessary for optimal departmental performance and overall positive employee relations. Maintains safe and healthful environment by identifying and anticipating concerns and hazards; enforcing safety policies and procedures and training. Participates in and/or leads company-wide safety programs, customer service programs, and employee engagement efforts. Participates in the development and execution of company goals and initiatives. Keeps up to date with current trends in the local and national economy, industry issues, and legal/regulatory compliance.Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Management, or closely related field preferred. Minimum of 10+ years of operations leadership experience in retail and/or hospitality at the Director or Executive level. Successful experience directly overseeing managers who operate and have full P& L responsibility for different business units within an organization. Well-organized with strong attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines and goals in a timely fashion. Proven track record of meeting or achieving financial and operational goals; ability to use cognitive skills to develop and execute solutions. Ability to define problems, collect and translate data to information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or other stakeholders. Effectively presents information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Proficiency in a variety of software programs to include Microsoft office programs, point of sale systems, and accounting and human resource management systems, among others.
