Enterprise Testing Senior Associate – IT&V Policy and Procedures team

As the company’s second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo’s risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline’s execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

The Independent Testing & Validation (IT&V) team is responsible for the development and design of methodologies and standards for review activities across the Enterprise in alignment with the Risk Management Framework, and ensuring effective and appropriate testing, validation, and documentation of review activities for risk programs, risks, and controls according to standards and other applicable policies. 

The IT&V Policy and Procedures team is seeking an Enterprise Testing Senior Associate to support the development and ongoing updates to IT&V procedures in coordination with IT&V’s target state operating model. The successful candidate will collaborate with IT&V execution teams and central support teams, coordinate and lead various procedures subject matter expert teams, assist with the management of the IT&V Policy and Procedures Support mailbox, and serve as a subject matter expert and liaison to the IT&V Quality Assurance/Quality Control teams.  

The roles and responsibilities of the Enterprise Testing Senior Associate include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating and leading testing and validation subject matter expert procedure teams
  • Partnering with IT&V procedure writers to arrive at viable procedure solutions that align to policy requirements but also support the testing execution teams 
  • Managing desktop procedures, templates, and other resources for IT&V deviation programs 
  • Assisting with the management of the IT&V Policy and Procedures mailbox, including answering questions from testing and validation execution teams and tracking responses 
  • Acting as a liaison to the IT&V Quality Assurance team and the IT&V Quality Control team, including answering questions, attending QA/QC calls as needed, and management of published IT&V QC Guidance. 
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop partnerships and act as a subject matter expert on testing related topics 
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of corporate policies and the interconnectivity of key components related to and impacting IT&V
     

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 5+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in risk management

  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience working with the Shared Risk Platform (SHRP)

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to identify and understand a broad spectrum of risks relative to IT&V, assess upstream and downstream impacts for applicability to processes, articulate relevant factors, and develop recommended solutions. 
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking and big-picture orientation, business acumen, and an excellent understanding of testing activities and associated processes.
  • High degree of initiative coupled with a strong ability to prioritize work and meet accountabilities with limited direction and oversight.
  • Experience and command of all aspects of testing and validation activities.  
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully take initiative and drive for results. 
  • Ability to explain complicated processes to all audiences. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbal and written, with various levels of management, including senior leaders and executives.  
  • Knowledge of Wells Fargo’s Policy Management Policy, Policy Management Procedures, and related supplemental guidance. 
  • Experience in Audit, Compliance, Risk and Testing.
  • Critical Thinking and Analytical skills.
  • Risk Management Certification (i.e.  CRCM, CISA, CIA, etc.).
