Director of Human Resources – Regional

RaceTrac

This is a Full-time position in Smyrna, DE posted October 25, 2021.

The Director of Human Resources serves as an advocate for RaceTrac field employees as well as an HR Strategy Leader for their respective Region.

This individual is responsible for overseeing and managing all HR initiatives as relates to the field, including but not limited to: employee training and development, talent recruiting, and on-going employee engagement.

Up to 25% travel required.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leader & Business Partner

  • Partner with the regional executive team and HR to create, embed and implement the People strategy.
  • Understand the business priorities; initiate and execute HR projects and programs that will have a long-term impact for the business in alignment with corporate strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide strategic direction and counsel to the Regional Sr Executive as it relates to human resource initiatives, organizational effectiveness, culture, employee engagement and organizational change.
  • Maintain a strategic partnership with the Director of Operations and ensures Operations and HR initiatives are aligning with the company’s overall goals. 
  • Provide strong change leadership facilitation and expertise to the business.
  • Understand employee perspectives and partner with management to anticipate and address needs and concerns.
  • Lead regional leadership meetings and is responsible for communicating regional performance and feedback to the SSC during monthly meetings.
  • Serve as an employee advocate and resolves employee conflicts, issues, and concerns as necessary.
  • Facilitate communication throughout the Region to ensure programs, processes, and goals are communicated effectively and appropriately.
  • Develop direct reports and supports the development of all field personnel.
  • Implement and communicates all HR policies, procedures and practices; ensures that they are consistent with all federal, state and local regulations.
  • Ensure goals and initiatives are aligned with the business’ needs and priorities.

    Remains aware of competition and identifies potential opportunities for RaceTrac.

  • Evaluate and understand the department’s expenses and works to proactively identify spend.

Employee Training & Talent Development

  • Contribute to the business strategy by helping business leaders identify, prioritize, and build organizational and talent capabilities.
  • Facilitate active identification and management of key talent through the performance management, talent assessment and succession planning and management processes.
  • Understand the Region’s entire talent landscape and proactively identifies leadership and/or talent gaps, development opportunities, and internal mobility options.
  • Develop a strategy specific to their region and drives and oversees the programs and processes that support training, development, recruitment, and engagement in order to attain specified goals.
  • Drive consistency in training initiatives and curriculum that encompass all employees in the Region.
  • Accountable for driving and communicating KBOs and ensuring these objectives are consistently met.
  • Develop and maintains an understanding of recruitment best practices in order to build talent and bench strength through external and internal recruiting.
  • Conduct succession planning and spearheads career-path activities for high potential employees for all levels from Associates to Operations Supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • HR background and previous experience as strategic HR Business Partner.
  • Strong program and/or project management skills with direct experience managing/owning the executive-level client relationship.
  • Substantial business acumen with experience working for a global company; corporate office experience required.
  • Possess a clear, comprehensive understanding of the link between HR and business strategy; must be able to convert into action.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills appropriate for consultation to all levels of management; the ability to present ideas clearly and gain agreement and group consensus.
  • Ability to influence and drive change in the organization.
  • Knowledge of HR related laws and regulations with experience in international multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong decision-making orientation; interface effectively with leadership and carry a strong point of view to a positive decision.
  • Previous experience leading a team of direct reports.
  • 4-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience preferred.
