Job Description

The Director of Human Resources and Risk Management directly supports the work of the YMCA of Central Stark County association, a leading non-profit charitable organization that has been a cornerstone in the community for 150+ years.

The YMCA is committed to supporting and strengthening our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

The HR/Risk Director serves on the CEO’s senior leadership team and oversees the development and implementation of talent management/human resources policies including staff recruitment, selection, retention and recognition strategies.

This role will also lead our initiatives involving risk mitigation and risk management policies within our organization including safety policies and the tracking of certifications and trainings.

Employee benefits, compensation, diversity and inclusion, employment practices and procedures, employee communication and events will all be driven within the leadership of this department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and eight or more years of professional HR/Risk management experience.
  • Knowledge and professional experience in all aspects of human resource management and staff development including employee relations, benefits, training and performance management.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership abilities as a “change-maker” in their previous leadership roles.
  • Current knowledge and understanding of HR and Risk related regulations, industry trends, current practices and applicable laws related to employees.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in HRIS.
  • Professional of Human Resources certification (PHR, SHRM-CP or equivalent) preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Assume a key leadership role that will help define the culture for our organization.
  • Drive organizational change for our YMCA in all areas related to human resources and risk management.

    Potential to strategically work with other neighboring Y associations.

  • Provide support and direction to the leadership team on matters involving culture, goal setting, developing policies and implementing strategic outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and direction for training initiatives and internal tracking of staff certifications.
  • Supervision of HR Manager and other department staff as needed to support operational goals.
  • Assists in the onboarding of new staff and leads staff recognition and retention initiatives.
  • Maintain and facilitate staff evaluation process.
  • Collect, compile and analyze HR data, statistics and utilize information to guide strategy.
  • Evaluate current risk management policies and recommend new or updated strategies to keep our association focused on the health and safety of our members, participants and staff.
  • Oversee compensation and benefit programs, including job descriptions and classifications, salary structure, management of benefit plan communication, enrollment and administration.
