City of Janesville, Assistant Human Resources Director

The City of Janesville (population 63,403), located in south-central Wisconsin, is seeking qualified candidates to fill the Assistant Human Resources Director position in the Human Resources Office.

This full-time, exempt position performs responsible, professional work in developing, administering, and maintaining programs and functions of the Human Resources Office.

Work includes performing duties with high confidentiality related to recruitment, benefits administration, employee training and development, policy development and administration, labor relations, employee relations, job classification, and salary administration.

Work is performed within the framework of established procedures, policies, rules, and regulations under the supervision of the Human Resources Director.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in human resources, management, public administration, business administration, or closely related field is required.

A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible human resources administration experience is required.

Experience working in a public/government environment preferred.

IPMA-Certified Professional or SHRM-PHR or CP certification preferred.

The starting salary for this position is $75,000, with the opportunity to earn up to a 5% increase after six months of employment, based on job performance.
