Job Summary:

Connecticut College is conducting a national search for an Associate Director of Diversity Outreach and Recruitment. The associate director will join a dynamic team and will assist in planning and implementing multicultural student recruitment strategies to help Connecticut College achieve enrollment goals; assume responsibility for planning, coordinating, and supervising specific admission programs or projects; represent the College to college counselors, prospective students, and their parents.

This position is benefits eligible and includes a comprehensive benefits package. 

General Duties &
Responsibilities:

The associate director will interpret educational policy and institutional mission of the College to perpetuate its intellectual quality; meet with other associates, the director, and the dean on a regular basis to assist in planning and implementing recruitment strategies; manage special projects and work to develop new and creative programs to enhance prospect development; portfolio responsibilities to include coordination of programming for and recruitment of multicultural and under-represented students including Posse; coordination of Science Leaders program and selection of students in conjunction with science faculty; liaison with Unity House; other duties as assigned.

The associate director will manage a team of Explore and Spring Preview student coordinators; maintain and increase the selectivity, quality, and diversity of the applicant pool and matriculants through a variety of recruitment and yield activities; interact with current students, faculty, administrators, alumni, and the public to develop and coordinate on and off-campus support programs; provide information and counseling to prospective students, parents, counselors, and other interested parties by conducting interviews, group presentations, school visits, receptions, and application follow-up; manage a specific recruitment territory; review applications individually and in committee, recommend candidates for admission; prepare statistical and area reports including appropriate recommendations or conclusions and participate in professional admission associations.

Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree preferably in liberal arts with at least 6 plus years of admission experience.

Excellent oral and written communications skills; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to make clear and concise presentations; ability to create and execute innovative admissions programs; excellent attention to detail, and strong computer skills; ability to build and sustain key relationships with staff, students, and off-campus contacts; excellent organization skills and ability to set priorities and keep to deadlines.

Extensive travel required including possible international travel.
