Description/Job Summary

*You must be located within a commutable distance to Lenexa, KS. Immediately hiring a travel Field Operations Associate.After the initial onboarding and training, the position is an almost 100% out-of-state travel position, for days or weeks at a time depending on business needs. An essential part of the position is flexible. You will be traveling to stores across the western region and filling in where needed depending on the business needs. The position will provide advanced education in management and operations and will provide valuable knowledge learned from multiple store Managers, Area Managers, and DVPs. This position is intended for your growth within the company.

Training: There will be extensive training at our Lenexa, KS store to include forklift operating, customer service, inventory, stocking, operating a saw, scheduling deliveries, etc…

Pay: 45,000K/Year Plus a $6000 bonus AFTER the training modules are completed. The bonus is paid in increments of $500 until fully paid out.

Schedule: Usually 6 am-5 pm Monday-Friday with some Saturdays. However, hours may vary depending on location/store.

84 Lumber soon will be subject to COVID19 vaccine requirements under OSHAs Emergency Temporary Standard. As a result, we are requiring all new associates to submit proof of full vaccination with one of the three COVID-19 vaccines approved and/or authorized by the FDA, or proof of having received the first vaccine dose with the second dose scheduled, on or before their first day of employment, unless the association has been approved for an exemption.

Responsibilities/Duties

Essential Functions

  • Keeps lumber yard clean, well-organized

  • Load and unload lumber and building supplies

  • Operate a forklift to fill orders of lumber (we train and certify you in-house)

  • Operate a saw

  • Travel will be up to 85% of the time in various 84 Lumber locations.

  • All travel accommodations and food stipends are paid for by 84 Lumber.

  • Must complete 8 modules before receiving $500 a month bonuses from the company.

  • Over the Phone, Interview is required.

  • Assist with operations projects at various locations.

  • Fill in for Store Manager and Co-Manager vacancies.

  • Sell of dead, obsolete, and overstock inventory.

  • Train store associates on advanced operations skills.

  • Assist in helping stores recover that are in disaster areas.

Additional Competencies

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Self-Starter is able to think outside the box.

Work Environment

  • Work inside and outside of store locations. Lifting up to 80lbs.

Physical Demands

  • This position requires frequent sitting, use of hands, talking, listening, climbing ladders, and stairs.

  • Periodically this position walks, stands, and reaches. Rarely, does this position balance, stoops, kneels, crouch, or crawl.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Hours of work depend on store hours of operations, 45 hours per week.

Travel

  • Extensive travel to potentially any store in the company.

    Required Skills

  • Experience working in a team atmosphere

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

  • Previous experience in retail or building industry is highly preferred

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must take and pass a drug test and consent to a background check

  • Work in outdoor/indoor conditions, and ability to load and unload lumber and other building materials with or without reasonable accommodations.

    Required Education

    High school diploma or GED. At least 2 years of specific experience and/or training related to the essential functions of the job; or equivalent combination of education and training.
