The individual in this role is expected to lead project teams of actuarial & analytic partners, provide valuable insights and recommendations to senior leadership and business partners that help to drive strategy, projects, and priorities forward.The Director will work within the broad limits and authority on complex assignments requiring specialized knowledge and expertise in breadth and/or depth in one or more of the following areas: Project management and execution Talent development coaching & development of others Diversity, equity, & inclusion industry leading practices Talent strategy Delivering on talent solutions including talent sourcing,recruiting, engagement, and retention Broad business knowledge & line of business understandingPrimary Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesOperational:Ownership of the leadership layer initiative across actuarial & analytics community including execution of the program, ongoing coaching, talent development, and active engagement with designated leadership layer participantsSupport execution of actuarial & analytics learning & skilling journeySupport execution of actuarial & analytics community engagement effortsManage communication strategy for the actuarial & analytics community working with enterprise partnersSupport talent strategy execution for actuarial & analytics communityIndependently perform analysis and propose solutions to solve business problems and apply judgement appropriatelyDrive day to day execution within assignments supporting broader department initiativesPromote efficiencies across the primary working groupMake decisions independently with consensus from business partnersProvide support as necessary for initiatives across the enterprise within scope of influenceStrategy:Support strategic planning as well as manage successful execution of assigned strategic initiatives and projectsDevelop solutions to resolve challenges of an initiativeUnderstand the needs and propose solutions for the actuarial & analytics communityParticipate on cross-unit initiatives and may participate in enterprise initiativesTalent:Support various training and skill development initiatives across assigned segment and the enterpriseSupport acquisition, retention, and development strategies for talent across the actuarial & analytics communityPossible staff responsibilities which may include indirect or direct management responsibilities of ALDP’s, interns, or leading peersPreferred Skills & Competencies:LeadershipDriving strategy and leading teams to execute desired outcomesOwnership of projects including initiating, drawing up a plan, and carrying out action items while making recommendationsProficient in leading self, exhibiting decisiveness and self-awareness while also efficiently managing ambiguityLeading others, including modeling the way for others while leading teams and projectsLeading the business, including actively engaging in driving business results, broad thinking and promoting an Enterprise cultureRelationship ManagementAppropriately influence leadership to strive towards optimal outcomesProactively build and own professional business relationships across the actuarial & analytics community andacross the enterpriseGenerate and solicit ideas and build consensus with established business relationshipsSet and manage expectations with key business partnersBusiness AcumenKnowledge of business drivers and disciplines within the analytic spaceAbility to effectively utilize business knowledge in developing solutionsHas perspective on certain areas of the industry and developing trends such as recruiting, talent development, strategyTravelers offers a hybrid work location model that is designed to support flexibility.Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent required.5 years of project management experience required.Education, Work Experience, & KnowledgeBachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.7 years of project management experience preferred.2 years of experience managing others and/or project teams.Employment PracticesTravelers is an equal opportunity employer.
