GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Think:Kids is a program in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. Think:Kids teaches Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), a revolutionary, evidence-based approach for helping children who struggle with social, emotional and behavioral challenges. At Think:Kids, a team of clinicians, educators, and clinical researchers teach the CPS approach to clinicians, parents, and educators across the world to implement CPS in homes, outpatient clinics, correctional facilities, schools, inpatient settings, residential programs and beyond.
Reporting directly to the CPS Training & Consultation Supervisor, the CPS Trainer & Consultant will provide coaching, consultation and training in the CPS approach to various organizations, schools, agencies and Systems of Care. The coaching and consultations will take place via videoconference and the trainings onsite (once it is safe to do so) or via videoconference. The intention of these sessions is to help staff learn the CPS model and how to best utilize it in their respective settings. The CPS Trainer & Consultant may also lead online classes for parents.
This is a Per Diem position.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Training & Coaching
Provide introductory and intensive training in CPS to a variety of organizations, utilizing Think:Kids materials and training guidelines
Lead video-conference based coaching sessions for small teams of staff at a variety of organizations
Participate in project-management related meetings regarding client organizations as needed (e.g., bi-annual implementation check-in’s)
Administrative
Submit weekly timesheets on time and according to program guidelines
Submit travel expense reports in a timely fashion and abide by all hospital travel expense policies
Facilitate the completion of training evaluations, quizzes, and online readiness surveys at the end of trainings as required
Follow all training and coaching tracking procedures and respond to e-mail in a timely manner
Other
Attend all Trainer Team and All Staff meetings (currently schedule for Thursday’s at 11am EST)
Assist with certification program activities as needed. This may include but is not limited to work sample reviews and preparation and/or leading of professional development webinars for the CPS certified community
Maintain CPS Certified Trainer status through proper completion of all recertification requirements, with the exception of the annual fee which is covered under your employment
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The CPS Trainer & Consultant will conduct coaching sessions remotely via video conference and will be expected to travel to various locations to provide the onsite trainings (once it is safe to do so). The CPS Trainer & Consultant will be responsible for providing his/her own equipment (laptop, webcam, etc).
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Demonstrated expertise and understanding of the CPS approach
Demonstrated expertise in training others in the CPS approach
Excellent presentation and public speaking / training skills
Ability to address a wide variety of audiences with varying levels of exposure to the CPS approach
Excellent interpersonal/communications skills
Strong organizational skills
Comfort with video-conference and online survey technology
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
CPS Certified Trainer
EDUCATION:
Undergraduate degree required
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3 years experience training and coaching in CPS
