Senior Medical Science Liaison, Oncology – Northwest

Jazz Pharmaceuticals

This is a Contract position in East Palo Alto, CA posted January 7, 2022.

Jazz Pharmaceuticals plc (NASDAQ: JAZZ) is a global biopharmaceutical company whose purpose is to innovate to transform the lives of patients and their families. We are dedicated to developing life-changing medicines for people with serious diseases – often with limited or no therapeutic options. We have a diverse portfolio of marketed medicines and novel product candidates, from early- to late-stage development, in neuroscience and oncology. We actively explore new options for patients including novel compounds, small molecules and biologics, and through cannabinoid science and innovative delivery technologies. Jazz is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland and has employees around the globe, serving patients in nearly 75 countries. For more information, please visit www.jazzpharmaceuticals.com and follow JazzPharma on Twitter. Announced in December 2019, PharmaMar and Jazz Pharmaceuticals have entered into an exclusive license agreement, which became effective in January 2020, granting Jazz U.S. commercialization rights to Lurbinectedin. This milestone is an exciting opportunity for Jazz to enter the solid tumor space with a late-stage molecule, complementing the company’s current oncology portfolio of commercial products in hematology/oncology and Jazz’s R&D portfolio in precision oncology including investigational efforts in solid tumors. Lurbinectedin is a potential treatment for SCLC developed by PharmaMar. It is an immunomodulator and selective inhibitor of the oncogenic transcription programs on which many tumors are particularly dependent. Together with its effect on cancer cells, Lurbinectedin inhibits oncogenic transcription in tumor-associated macrophages, downregulating the production of cytokines that are essential for the growth of the tumor. There remains a critical unmet need for patients with relapsed SCLC, as the treatment landscape has not changed substantially in more than two decades since with the last new chemical entity was approved.
