Senior Medical Director – Genetics

Cook Children’s Health Care System (CCHCS) located in Ft.

Worth, TX, has initiated a national search for a Senior Medical Director to lead their well-established and nationally respected Department of Genetics.

The new Senior Medical Director, in collaboration with the Metabolic and Clinical Genetics team, would lead a strategic design and implementation initiative that move the health system and its metabolic, genomics, and precision medicine programs into the future.

This position must be filled by a board certified/board eligible genetics physician.

Physician must secure an unrestricted Texas Medical license before commencement of employment.

The Senior Medical Director will work closely with the Director of Clinical Genetics and the Director of Metabolism to establish the strategic vision for the future of the program.

Overseeing a Department of Genetics currently staffed by 9 geneticists, 2 nurse practitioners, genetic counselors, metabolic dietitians, and case managers.

Opportunities available to pursue clinical research with support including campus IRB, grant writing, research nurses, a dedicated PhD statistician, as well as the teaching of medical students.

Broad pediatric sub-specialty platform with 35 Departments represented and 40 outpatient primary care clinics in the Cook Children’s network provides partnership opportunities for genetic program development in other specialty areas.
