Westat has an immediate opening for a dynamic, creative, solution-oriented project director to oversee a multi-faceted public health communications and outreach program.
We are seeking a highly experienced professional with the ability to inspire a team and engage diverse stakeholders to deliver evidence-based prevention messages.
The successful candidate will have expertise in project management, communications, public health and social marketing campaigns, media relations, research dissemination, and business development.
Experience with project management, public health prevention programs, and special populations is required.
This position is contingent upon the award of the contract.
Job Responsibilities:
• Establish and execute communications and marketing effort, inspire teams, and provide oversight of project tasks.
• Develop and deliver strategic communication and campaign plans and lead project teams to accomplish plan objectives.
• Plan and implement public outreach and education programs and events.
• Identify and engage partners (Federal agencies, individuals, and organizations) to support public health campaigns and health marketing initiatives.
• Create accurate, compelling, audience-appropriate content for health marketing materials on chronic disease, reproductive health, infectious disease, immunization, and other public health topics.
• Direct and conduct media monitoring activities, including analysis and reporting.
• Provide operational support, overseeing and monitoring project costs as well as contract financial performance.
• Manage client relationships, delivering strategic council and troubleshooting project-related issues.
• Lead and participate in business development activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in communications, public health, or related field.
• 10 years of experience, including experience as a project manager overseeing planning and assistance to clients in public health communications and campaigns in an agency setting.
Must be familiar with best practices in integrated marketing communications, digital marketing, partnership and stakeholder engagement, and event management and have demonstrated ability to lead the execution of these tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience managing sizable accounts and serving as client contact.
• Proven ability to consistently make sound judgments and effectively motivate and manage project teams.
• Innovative communications strategist with excellent organization and management skills.
• Experience leading and contributing to business development efforts.
