Senior Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

The Senior EHS Specialist will provide technical and regulatory expertise to ensure compliance with Environment, Health and Safety regulations, maintain a safe workplace, and continuously improve EHS programs and procedures. You will support EHS programs and initiatives with a focus on multimedia environmental compliance, including but not limited to air, wastewater, stormwater, solid and hazardous waste, and oil pollution control. 

• Develops, documents and maintains environmental health and safety (EHS) programs in compliance with federal, state and local legislation.
• Develops, conducts, and maintains EHS training for personnel.
• Leads incident investigation, reporting, and corrective action.
• Participates in developing, scheduling, and conducting internal EHS audits and related reporting; assists in evaluating appropriate follow-up corrective action.
• Participates in onsite inspections by external regulatory agencies and supports compliance inquiries from OSHA, EPA, DOT and other federal, state, and local government agencies.
• Managers deviations and release reporting to external regulatory agencies.
• Identifies sources of pollution and methods for controlling pollutants in air, soil, surface water and wastewater. 
• Analyzes, interprets and validates information on hazardous materials and chemicals.
• Conducts all required local, county, state, and federal inspections; including but not limited to SWPPP, SPCC, hazardous waste, air quality and health/safety, etc. 
• Coordinates efforts with external consultants to prepare and submit permit applications including but not limited to stormwater, air (construction and/or operating), wastewater, etc.
• Completes EHS compliance reports, including but not limited to SARA 311/312 Tier II, SARA 313 Form R, air emissions calculations and periodic air compliance reports, and biennial hazardous waste report.
• Reads and follows the Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. Code of Conduct and follows all physical and digital security practices.
• Performs other duties as directed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science or related field 
• Experience in multimedia environmental compliance required: CAA, RCRA, SPCC, NPDES, DOT and wastewater.
• Minimum of five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ablity to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Professional certifications preferred. 
• Experience with ISO 14001 and environmental management systems (EMS) preferred.
