Job Summary: Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in the Operating Room and the Nurse Manager.

Assists with the coordination of nursing care of the patient in the operating room and functions as a team member of the surgical team.

Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of equipment instrumentation and supplies on the sterile field.

Requires utilization of simple to complex equipment.

Requires the cleaning and replenishment of equipment and supplies in order to maintain quality patient care.

Participates in quality patient assurance in-service and customer service programs.

Responsible for the handling and management of specimens and surgical counts.

Assumes the role of expert for specific surgical service is responsible for monitoring the surgical schedule for equipment and supply needs prepares for daily case readiness supports the Specialty Nurse with the surgeon preference cards and for identifying communicating and educating service changes.

Experience: Prefer previous experience in surgical tech role.

Licensure/Certification: CST certification preferred.
