DEPARTMENT: CCHMCSUPERVISOR’S TITLE: Unit Clinical Manager, Respiratory Care Senior Clinical DirectorTITLES SUPERVISED: N/ATOTAL NUMBER OF FTE’s DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY SUPERVISED: 0 PURPOSE OF POSITION: To function as a professional respiratory therapist and to apply indepth knowledge about the care of infant, children, adolescent and adult patients and clients. To rapidly recognize and anticipate subtle changes based on past experiences; to coordinate and communicate with appropriate resources as needed. To serve as a department and division-based role model and resource for policies, procedures and patient care. To assist others in setting respiratory care and department priorities, keeping in mind the education of self and others while maintaining a cohesive environment.
Responsibilities·AssessmentAssess patients, clients and families, whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex and quickly recognize normal parameters, deviations and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental and behavioral status based on past experience as it relates to cardio-pulmonary health.·Plan of CareParticipate in developing a plan of care, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs. Involve patients, clients, families and health team members in establishing goals. Demonstrate competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients, clients and families. Demonstrate initiative in remaining current on CCHMC policies, procedures and standards. Act as a resource to peers. Intervene for the attainment of care goals. Facilitate the linking of patients, clients and families with other disciplines and services as needed. Evaluate effectiveness of care giving, and shows on going follow through in care delivery. Evaluation of care is reflective of the attainment of care goals. Demonstrate proficiency and compliance with established practices in documentation.
