Work Hours/Shift: Full Time / Nights You Will Be Responsible For: Proactively initiates process improvement ideas.
Assists with clinical instruction and new orientee staff precepting and serves as a resource person to lower level therapists.
Responds to all Code Blue emergencies immediately providing CPR according to the American Heart Association and performs other duties as directed.
Properly utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, chart review, and conferring with multidisciplinary team to determine efficacy of therapy in a cost and time efficient manner making appropriate recommendations and changes per department protocol.
Obtains, analyzes and reports findings of arterial blood gases, and co-oximetry.
Performs quality controls as needed.
Setup and Performs oximetry, apnea, TC and ETCO2 monitoring as ordered by physician.
Initiates, maintains, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators to include conventional and non-conventional modes of ventilation per policy and procedure.
Review chest radiological reports as necessary per supervisor and policy and procedures.
Assists physician with diagnostic & therapeutic bronchoscopy procedure including Bronchial Alveolar Lavage, Transbronchial biopsies, and routine exploratory aspects of bronchoscopy during procedure as needed.
Provides effective patient education on all therapy modalities as needed to the patient and/or the patients family to ensure a complete understanding of the benefits of care provided.
Reviews and reinforces with patient/family education of basic procedures and therapies to ensure understanding and proper/safe techniques and methods.
Qualifications What You Will Need: ABG Puncture and Analysis CPR and basic Airway management and suctioning Oscillatory Chest Physiotherapy Applications Application Non-Invasive Oxygen Therapies & devices Respiratory Monitoring Pulse oximetry applications Medicated Aerosol Therapies, Bronchial Hygiene Therapies, Lung Expansion Therapies Basic Spirometry Routine Oxygen Delivery, Devices, and Oximetry Non-Invasive High Flow Therapy Non-Invasive Heliox Therapy Advanced Tracheostomy Care including tracheotomy change & de-cannulation Non-Invasive Bilevel Application & Management Invasive and Non-Invasive End Tidal Co2 Capnography Application & Monitoring Bronchoscopy Assist Advanced Conventional & Non-Conventional Ventilator Management EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Graduate from an AMA approved program by the National Board of Respiratory Care in Respiratory Therapy is required.
AAS or AS is required.
AHA BLS, ACLS certifications required Minimum of two years clinical experience in acute care setting.
Current Florida State License as an RRT/Registered Respiratory Therapist.
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the NBRC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED: Esophageal balloon manometry Ventilator waveform interpretation skills Application of inhaled Nitric Oxide gas and pulmonary vasodilator medications Pediatric and Neonatal critical care experience and skills Job Summary: The Respiratory Therapist II performs all necessary routine respiratory care procedures associated with acute or critically ill neonatal, pediatric, or adult patient populations and can work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
He/she initiates and maintains appropriate therapy, including life support technique and equipment.
Provides, preventable, supportive, and corrective interventions related to the cardio-pulmonary system in assigned patient care areas in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and all applicable regulations and standards.
Applies the knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate interactions with staff, patients, and families of all ages.
Minimum competency in all applicable advanced clinical skills must be demonstrated and maintained.
Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
