Description:Providence is calling a Ultrasonographer (0.5 FTE, 20 hours per week Night Shift) to work in Imaging Services at Providence Centralia Hospital in Centralia, WA.Apply Today!

Applicants that meet qualifications will receive a text with some additional questions from our Modern Hire system.This position performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and assists the radiologist in obtaining a diagnosis.In this position you will:* Obtains diagnostic, high-quality sonograms.

Standards: Demonstrates knowledge in the use and limitations of ultrasound equipment and transducers.

Understands and properly uses the settings in producing quality sonograms.

Completely performs all diagnostic ultrasound procedures including intra cavity and other invasive procedures.

Understands and is able to operate the following peripherals: color printer, and laser printer.

Properly positions patients and is knowledgeable of why and how positions are utilized for good imaging.

Able to troubleshoot ultrasound equipment if the equipment should fail, reports malfunctions of equipment immediately to the proper person.

Properly handles the following patient care devices: IV pumps, oxygen, and suction.

Label images appropriately.

Demonstrates ability to critique the quality of images in all areas before exam completion.* Demonstrates knowledge of patient care.

Standards: Is courteous and helpful to patients.

Uses AIDET for every patient encounter.

Is proficient and competent in patient handling and body mechanics.

Knowledgeable in patient positioning and anatomy related to obtaining quality sonograms.

Properly instructs and informs patient regarding the exam being performed and answers all the patient’s questions regarding the procedure.

Properly interviews patient regarding condition and history.

Checks for history of allergies, diabetes or pre-disposing conditions.

Is knowledgeable of patient conditions relative to performing exam.

Properly assesses patient and plans imaging needs.

Takes vital signs accurately.

Is attentive to comfort needs and safety of patient.

Utilizes sterile technique and prevents cross contamination during biopsy or interventional procedures.

Is aware of and observes isolation techniques and standards when required.

Is trained in CPR and assessment of patient’s status during respiratory or cardiac codes.

Maintains certification.

Ability to work without error under the direction of a radiologist.* Is responsible for various clerical paperwork.

Standards: Assures that adequate and pertinent data is communicated to peers and doctors accurately and concisely.

Knows and can answer questions regarding pre and post sonography orders.

Assures that images are labeled correctly with all pertinent data.

Assures that previous reports are with exam.

Calls reports as needed.

Is knowledgeable of front desk operations and assists there when the workload permits.

Knows how to schedule examinations and assist receptionist when the workload permits.

Records data relevant to exam including any medications, patient observations, blood pressures and pulses when needed.

Is responsible for accurate logging and charting of patient’s exams.

Demonstrates knowledge of charging procedures for accurate billing and departmental statistics.Is responsible for physical areas of department.

Standards: Maintains cleanliness of equipment, work areas and exam rooms and assures they are ready for use after each patient.

Maintains adequate supplies in exam room and other work areas.

Is knowledgeable of supplies—their use, their location, and their application.

Maintains required inventory of supplies used in biopsy and other invasive procedures.

Always restocks interventional box after use.

Stocks exam rooms with fresh linen daily.

Changes linens on exam tables after each patient.

Participates in routine cleaning of equipment.

Proper use of high level disinfection agents.* This position has regular and recurrent direct clinical contact with: Neonates, Adolescents, Infants, Adults, Pediatrics, and Geriatrics.

The evaluator (manager/supervisor/peer) has observed the employee demonstrating the following standards: Assesses and adjusts care/treatment to be compatible with the age, growth, development and needs of the patient.

Assesses patient’s level of understanding and adjusts care appropriately.

Provides patient and/or family with information about the department exam room locations, restrooms, and waiting areas.

Provides patient and/or family with information about the procedure/treatment that is to be performed.

Provides patient and/or family with information about the aspects of the plan of care as it relates to the ordered examination.

Portrays calm, reassuring manner when caring for pediatric and adolescent patients and family.

Adjusts the individual plan of care for each examination to the developmental age and needs of the patient.

Utilizes supplies, equipment and instruments in relation to size and age of the patient.

Assesses physical age-related changes, e.G.: vision, hearing, skin condition of each patient and appropriately adjusts the examination methods to any limitations that may exist.

Demonstrates skills required for the care of elderly patients to include: Assesses patients level of understanding.

Assesses the physical limitations of the elderly patient.

Modifies the examination when necessary to accommodate any physical or mental limitations of the elderly patient.

Portrays calm, reassuring manner when caring for elderly patients.* Follows guidelines and hospital policies established at the time of assignment.

Standards: Accepts assignments willingly.

Prioritizes workload to ensure timely completion of assignment.

Asks appropriate clarifying questions relative to scope of assignment.Qualifications:Required qualifications for this position include:* Graduate of an ultrasound program approved by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.* 6 months Hospital experience including all general ultrasound procedures including OB/GYN, Abdominal, small parts, intra cavity and color flow studies, extremity venous Duplex and carotid Duplex.* Registered diagnostic ultrasonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible.* AHA BLS certification (American Heart Association).Preferred qualifications for this position include:* Clinical experience in UltrasoundAbout the hospital you will serve.Providence Centralia Hospital in Centralia, Washington is a 127-bed, not-for-profit hospital providing emergency, diagnostic, cancer, birthing and surgical services.
