Dr.
Jason Mitchell, Associate Professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, is currently seeking to hire one post-doctoral research associate.
The postdoctoral research associate will provide support on coordinating, managing and conducting highly specialized health disparities research, focusing on LGBTQ health.
The postdoc will participate in a diverse array of research pursuits, including project related activities, manuscript preparation, data analysis and collaborating on ongoing projects and grant writing.
The postdoc will be mentored directly by Dr.
Mitchell and will have the opportunity to collaborate with others within the HPDP department and FIU Research Center in Minority Institutions.
Dr.
Mitchell has over 15 years of experience in designing, implementing and evaluating HIV/STI prevention projects with sexual minority male couples and men, and has established a cohort study with LGBTQ couples.
Central to his program of research is the use of technology and relationship science to improve health outcomes for HIV/STI prevention, substance use, and other health domains areas of critical Public Health importance where stark disparities continue to exist among sexual and gender minority populations, including couples.
Qualifications and Experience Earned doctorate in Public Health or relevant field.
Bilingual (Spanish, English) language strongly preferred, along with experience in using technology for recruitment (e.g., social media) and data collection (e.g., Qualtrics).
A focus in LGBTQ health is required with a supporting publication record.
An interest in conducting research with couples and using m/eHealth for interventions is helpful.
