Under the immediate supervision of the Pharmacist or Director of Pharmacy Services, is responsible for the preparation, dispensing, and recordkeeping processes of medications.
This is a per diem position.
Responsibilities Professionalism 1 Maintains certifications and continuing education requirements 2 Participates in Hospital committees 3 Understand and contributes to the overall improvement in quality pharmaceutical care 4 Practices professional interactions with patients, co-workers and vendors Clinical Competency 1 Ability to prepare both sterile and non-sterile compounds 2 Understanding of billing and insurance processing for outpatient prescriptions 3 Fill automated dispensing machine with required medications 4 Understands computer systems and the integration between systems 5 Able to purchase medications through appropriate channels Quality 1 Fills Automated Dispensing Units in a timely and accurate manner 2 Assures medications about to expire are removed and segregated from other inventory 3 Purchases products through wholesaler to assure contract compliance and 340b maximization 4 Maintains an appropriate level of inventory
– 5 Assists the pharmacist to assure quality care Patient Advocacy 1 Is attentive to processing of refill prescription requests and prior authorizations 2 Utilize appropriate resources for non-English speaking patients, hearing and sight impaired individuals, and/or healthcare illiteracy 3 Clearly communicates to the patient and family at an appropriate level of comprehension 4 Offers to provide a pharmacist resource for patient counseling and medication education 5 Provides timely processing of prescriptions Qualifications Education: Certified Pharmacy Technician through training or on-the-job training Experience: Hospital pharmacy experience preferred Licenses/Certifications: CPhT, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern
