Tanana Chiefs Conference is looking for providers that love wilderness, hiking, outdoor adventures and are team players with strong clinical skills and the ability to work with humility in a cross-cultural tribal health clinic.
We are hiring for a board certified Nurse Practitioner to live and work in Tok, Alaska.
The successful candidate must possess passion for rural healthcare and exceptional communication & cross-cultural skills.
After-hours and weekend call rotations are mandatory and providers must be comfortable with handling after-hours emergency medicine and trauma in a rural setting.
As a rural clinic during regular weekday hours we see and treat a significant number of complex chronic care patients along with the typical mix of acute care conditions.
As a sub-regional clinic we have the support of a larger tribal health network and a team of providers at Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center in Fairbanks and Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage.
$40K signing bonus; up to $5K annual for CME and 80 hours (not deducted from PTO); 30 days PTO plus an additional 11 paid holidays.

Who We Are:
The Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) is an Alaska Native non-profit corporation, charged with advancing Tribal self-determination and enhancing regional Native unity.
TCC has an extensive rural health care system to support health and promote wellness to Indian Health Service beneficiaries—Alaska Natives & American Indians, as well as many non-beneficiaries, in 42 villages situated across the river systems of the Interior (Yukon, Koyukuk, Kuskokwim, Tanana and more).
This 235,000 square mile region is the home of the Tanana Chiefs Conference.
Where We Are:
The Upper Tanana Health Center South is located in the rural community of Tok, Alaska.
Tok is situated at the strategic intersection of the Alaska Highway and the Tok Cut Off from which travelers driving into Alaska from Canada can either continue north towards Delta(1.75 hours) and Fairbanks(3.5 hours) in the Interior Region or head southwest to Anchorage (6 hours)
We are screening for providers with a sense of adventure, a love for rural medicine and the respect and humility to serve in a team approach in a multi-cultural setting.
The Upper Tanana Health Center is staffed a combination of Advanced Practitioners, RN’s and MA’s.
We are currently recruiting for two full time physicians.
After hours and weekend call will be divided between 3 full time providers and we are looking to rotate additional staff from Fairbanks.
Provider must be comfortable with responding to emergency medicine and trauma situations.
The patient population draws mainly from the communities of Tok, Tetlin, Northway, Tanacross and Dot Lake—as well as summer tourists.
Tok is well situated for anyone wanting to live a rural Alaskan lifestyle while still staying on the road system for convenient travel.
Candidate must be comfortable living in a rural isolated community with limited amenities.
Fishing, hunting, aviation, backcountry adventures in the mountains or along the rivers—there is plenty to do if you love the outdoors.
The foothills of the Delta Range Mountains are accessible just a short drive out of town & Wrangell-St.
Elias National Park is south of Tok.
Eagle, Whitehorse, Fairbanks, Anchorage and all points in between are ready to visit and explore.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
1.
Meet applicable licensure, credentialing, and privileging standards for nurse practitioner role.
2.
Due to differences in scope of care, practice, or service across settings, the specific experience required for this position may vary.
3.
Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong verbal, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
