Nurse Manager – Inpatient

San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation

This is a Contract position in Peridot, AZ posted July 31, 2021.

Plans and directs the activities and functions of the Inpatient Nursing Unit to ensure highest quality developmentally appropriate patient care consistent with established professional, regulatory and governmental standards and guidelines

Essential Functions:

  • Directs process of establishing a clear strategic direction for the Inpatient Nursing Unit to ensure mission, vision and values are upheld and strategy is consistent with the annual organizational plan of the hospital.
  • Directs, manages and supervises daily administrative operations of the unit to ensure highest quality developmentally appropriate patient care consistent with established professional, regulatory and governmental standards
  • Develops clinical and financial outcome measures, related tracking and monitoring systems and a mechanism to integrate efforts into organization-wide Quality Improvement systems
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal, state, licensing and regulatory requirements and practices
  • Develops, implements and maintains standards, systems and processes to ensure excellence of assigned areas which supports the mission, goals and objectives of the hospital
  • Works cooperatively and collaboratively with various internal department to evaluate and modify operations to increase effectiveness and efficiency of patient care activities
  • Establishes and monitors staffing levels based on patient needs to ensure adherence with established quality and safety standards/requirements; adjusts as needed
  • Develops, manages and supervises purchasing and management of equipment and instrumentation to ensure availability of proper and functioning equipment for safe delivery of care
  • Works collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders to recommend, develop and implement methods/procedures for coordination of services with related patient care activities.
  • Actively participates in a variety of departmental and hospital-based committees to discuss, develop and implement programs and services in support of the goals and objectives of the hospital
  • Prepares and distributes monthly status and statistical reports of laboratory activities
  • Develops and maintains effective working partnerships with physicians by facilitating appropriate involvement in departmental planning and operations to ensure a collaborative work environment
  • Plans, develops and manages department strategies and operational budgets to ensure provision of services consistent with desired objectives delivered responsibly
  • Develops and supervises staff through provision of timely feedback and use of appropriate Human Resource policies and tools to ensure maintenance of desired performance and quality standards
  • Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives
  • Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skills and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor
  • Performs all duties of Registered Nurse as needed
  • Performs all other job related activities as requestedrequired

  • At least 5 years of progressive clinical nursing and managerial experience
  • Associates Degree in Nursing, BSN preferred
  • Current and active state unrestricted RN license, Arizona state license preferred
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
