Medical Legal Information Specialist

We have two exciting Health Information Management roles open in our Inova Fair Oaks and Inova Loudon Centralized Medical departments for Medical Legal Information Specialists!

The hours would be M, F, 8-5.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinates the timely response to Continuing Care requestors and serves as a Resource for the release of patient information while assuring patient confidentiality is protected. 
• Coordinates timely response to all requests for patient information as required by HIPAA rules and regulations.
• Process ROI Requests 
• Demonstrates working knowledge of the legal requirements for responding to subpoenas for health information. 
• Demonstrates proficiency in use of all computer software systems required for Release of Information.

Experience: 

• Medical Records, Clinical, medical or health care billing, physician office release of information, paralegal, radiology film library experience.
• At least 3 years relevant work experience in any of these settings OR recent graduate of accredited Health Information Technology program. 
• Experience with electronic health record processing 

Education: 

• Associates Degree or in lieu of a degree 3 years of relevant HIM work experience.
