John and Fonda Elliot began AMFM in 1982 and have built AMFM into West Virginia’s leader in skilled nursing, rehabilitation and long-term care services. There are 19 AMFM care centers located throughout West Virginia.Originally named Cumberland Care Center, American Medical Facilities Management (AMFM) purchased the center and re-opened as Mercer Nursing & Rehabilitation Center (N&RC) on July 23, 2001. In 2015, a new Mercer N&RC opened a new 58,000 square-foot facility and is located in Bluefield and is 15 minutes away from Princeton and Interstate 77. Mercer Nursing & Rehabilitation Center received the 2015 Bronze National Quality Award from the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The program is based on the core values and criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The center continued their quality care journey and was awarded the 2019 Silver National Quality Award.
