Job Description:The OR Tech I performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management. Surgical Services Opportunities (Park City Hospital or Heber Valley Hospital)Park City and Heber Valley Hospitals offers Surgical Technologist (ST) positions in both facilities. Interested candidates may post their application to their single facility of choice. The surgical operations environment is team-oriented with multi-disciplinary groups including surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical techs and nurses. The surgical technologist is a central team member in these diverse teams and has many different levels of colleagues to lean on and collaborate to provide the patient with a safe and extraordinary experience. OR specialties include a major emphasis on Orthopedics including world renown sports medicine, total joint replacement as well as routine ortho cases. Park City and Heber Valley also perform general surgery, ENT, Urology, GYN, Neuro, and Plastics surgical care. Surgical services shifts are primarily Monday-Friday, daytime work and allow for 8, 10 and 12 hour shifts equaling prn, part or full time hours depending on personal circumstances and availability. Some limited evening shifts with a set schedule are available for the person who wants to work off-hours allowing for family or school obligations. Due to limited emergencies and late cases, some evening and weekend call for daytime staff is involved. Park City and Heber Valley offer a 5% geographical differential and 5% critical need differential for a total of 10% differential. Certification is required within one year of becoming eligible with a maximum of four years to become qualified for certification.Two years of surgical services experience. Physical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, sterile indicator tags, colors, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. and Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. and Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment and instruments with precision and accuracy. This includes computer use and typing for documentation, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. and Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. and Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc). and May be expected to stand in a stationary position with personal protective equipment for an extended period of time.
