The Intermountain Foundation operates as a shared-service model with a Central Office and systems that drive efficient, sustainable and predictable high-yield fundraising outcomes through local, facilities-based, as well as system-level development activities.

The Donor Prospect and Research Manager oversees the management of a sophisticated and sustainable donor prospect management and research program that uses creative, industry best-practice methodologies and systems to identify, qualify, strategize on, and manage prospects and donors.

ScopeThe Donor Prospect and Research Manager is a leadership position that reports to the AVP, Foundation Operations at the Foundation’s Central Office and interfaces regularly with members of the Foundation Leadership Team (FLT) and local Foundation executive leaders and gift officers.

The candidate must be able to work independently and with limited daily direction; communicate effectivelywith different audiences, using different forums; exercise good judgment; and manage multiple projects at once, with a keen attention to details.Major duties include: Understands the role of the Foundation and the its fundraising programs in the overall strategic plans of Intermountain Healthcare and its local facilities, programs, and projects.

Manages a team of prospect management and research specialists to support Foundation objectives.

Collaborates with Foundation leadership to build, expand and enhance the prospect pool.

This will be accomplished by proactively identifying donor prospects for individual research and prioritizing large-scale prospect pools through means such as data sorting, mining, and wealth screening.

Analyzes and synthesizes information to assess prospect giving capacity, philanthropic inclinations, and appropriate potential solicitors; sources include complexfinancial and legal disclosures, corporate reports (10K, stock reports), proxy statements, foundation tax reports (IRS PF 990), and county documents (assessment records).Job Essentials Additional responsibilities include: 1.

Utilizes data analysis to make recommendations for solicitation strategies and to compose prospective profile summaries.

Responds in a time-sensitive manner to research requests.

Coordinates and supports fundraising strategies for constituents via fundraiser portfolios.2.

Partners with local fundraising leadership, gift officers and other staff in managing and building prospect pipelines and ensuring that prospect management policies and data are current and meet Foundation needs.3.

Creates standardized best practices for prospect research and solicitation strategies.

Builds from the existing knowledge and talent of local fundraising staff.4.

Utilizes a responsive, effective customer service plan supporting fundraisers and fundraising programs.

Conducts prospect research and management training and outreach that further the goals and operating objectives of Intermountain Foundation and its fundraising programs.5.

Measures performance against metrics to demonstrate gift officer success and to identify areas for improvement.

Sets, documents, and meets monthly and yearly goals.6.

Maintains the integrity of the centralized prospect management database (Raiser’s Edge) that provides a record of highly confidential prospects contacts and clearance and manager assignments.

Provides considerable guidance and influence in determining how such information is structured in the system.7.

Complies with Intermountain Foundation policies, federal and state laws concerning fundraising and information management, including HIPPA.

Adheres to ethical standards established by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA), the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) best practices.8.

Stays current on local hospital and system-wide activities, events, and achievements.

Identifies innovative opportunities for prospect involvement and cultivation.9.

Participates in continuing education to enhance and increase fundraising skills, maintains awareness of changes in philanthropy patterns.

Keeps a finger on the pulse of healthcare philanthropy trends, particularly prospect research, portfolio management, analytics, wealth screening, and data mining.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree plus five years of experience with demonstrated achievement in donor prospect research and management.

Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution.Demonstrated advanced writing skills that produce clear, accurate, and detailed communications.

and Demonstrated excellent organization skills and ability to synthesize and communicate data, trends, and sensitive information.

and Demonstrated in-depth understanding of privacy and confidentiality best practices and HIPPA compliance.

and Functional working experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge.

and Strong project and planning skills, demonstrating detail orientation, timeliness, and ability to work under pressure while managing multiple projects at once.

and Demonstrated strong analytic and creative skills used to develop best practices and strategy.

and Demonstrated ability to work independently with little supervision while balancing the need to provide key information and updates to leadership.Preferred QualificationsFundraising experience in a healthcare environment.
