NOTE: Announcement will remain open until no longer needed but no later than April 30, 2021.Learn more about this agencyResponsibilitiesThe Health Care Aid may be permanently or temporarily appointed on an intermittent, part-time or full-time schedule in support of VA facilities across the Nation during the COVID-19 pandemic.Duties consist of, but are not limited to:* Maintains safe and sanitary environment for inpatients/residents, staff and visitors;* Follows infection control procedures;* Maintains safe environment for patients, staff and visitors;* Monitors flow of oxygen, replaces empty tanks, and fills personal use portable oxygen;* Assists with obtaining items needed, such as dressings, linens, etc.;* Provides a range of personal care as needed to include bathing, toileting, hair and nail care, and dressing in personal clothing while maintaining privacy and dignity of inpatient/resident;* Maintains inventory control as needed;* Performs a range of clinical support duties which may include taking vital signs, recording vital signs and reporting deviations to the RN.Work Schedule: A variety of work schedules are available; Work schedule will be determined upon selection.

NOTE: May be expected to work rotating weekends and holidays.Pay Schedule: The salary range listed in this announcement is a Base-Line Salary for a full-time work schedule.

General Experience is defined as (1) any type of work that demonstrates the applicant’s ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation.OREducation: Applicants may substitute education for the experience required.

Successful completion of one (1) year, beyond high school, of study that included study in medical, health or related fields.

The total qualifying experience is taken as a percentage of the 6 months’ experience required; qualifying education is taken as a percentage of the 1 year education substitution.

When added together, the total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned).

Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess.

Add the two percentages.

The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-03.

For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e.

50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e.
