SENIOR CHEMINFORMATICS SCIENTIST Position Summary: Looking for a self-motivated Senior Cheminformatics Scientist to facilitate drug discovery and development.
Under the direction of informatics leadership, you will support all aspects of small molecule drug R& D starting from compounddesign, lead identification to preclinical evaluation and development.
You will collaborate with team members and scientific staff to design and develop informatic and computational solutions to facilitate R& D processes.
Essential Responsibilities:Enhance GBT’s suite of informatics and computational tools for data capture, management, analysis, search and presentation to streamline workflows and improve productivity.Assist medicinal chemists and other research scientists with data analyses, import and visualization.Develop methods and tools for mining of large structural and property datasets, internal and external, to improve compound screening based on target selectivity, potency, physicochemical, pharmacokinetic and toxicological propertiesDevelop software applications to access, integrate and visualize data of multi-modalities for project teamsDesign and develop novel informatics tools to facilitate compound design, screening, evaluation, selection and developmentBe an active member of project teams, attend team meetings and help visualize chemical data to facilitate decision making process.
Qualifications:PhD in Cheminformatics, medicinal Chemistry, Chemistry or related field with at least 3 years industry experience, or MS with 6 years of relevant experienceUnderstanding of drug discovery and development principlesSound knowledge of chemistry, data analytics, and data visualizationProficiency in SAR, structural activity analysis, and data-driven hypothesis generationExpertise with computational methods, such as statistical data analysis, QSAR and application, ADME modeling and machine learning algorithmsExtensive experience in integrating and visualizing chemical, structural and biological dataStrong computer programming skills in languages such as Python, Java/JavaScriptStrong hands-on experience of using cheminformatic techniques, such as clustering, similarity and substructure searching, model development, virtual screening, data analysis and visualization, and multiple parameter optimization with machine learningTrack record of successful delivery and consistent productivityAbility to work independently as well as with a team Fit with GBT culture:Ability to build strong relationships with co-workers of various backgrounds and expertiseAbility to function at a high level in a team setting whether leading the group or acting as an individual contributorValues-based leadership consistent with GBT’s Core ValuesExcitement about the vision and mission of GBTFlexibilityIntegrity NOTE: This position summary is not intended to be all-inclusive.
