Paul, MN and has ability to work remotely once training has been completed.Responsibilities/Job Description:In accordance with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing Practice Act, the Fairview ED lab result follow up RN primary responsibility is to manage the Fairview/MHealth ED lab result pools (Epic) for the following Emergency Departments: Fairview Ridges (RH), Fairview Southdale (SH) Fairview Northland (PH), Fairview Lakes (WY), U of MN/MHealth East (UU) and West Bank (UR) NOT including U of MN Masonic Children’s), Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital (GICH), Fairview Forest Lake ISD 831,and the Urgent Care clinics at Fairview Lake Wyoming and North Branch.The responsibility of the RN is to manage most of the lab results that were not finalized when the patient was discharged from the Fairview Emergency Department.

The ED Lab Result follow-up RN uses protocols approved by each site Emergency Department Medical Director to manage each of these lab results.

Using the nursing process, the ED Lab Result RN facilitates access to the health care system and/or negotiates a satisfactory resolution to the clients concern.The ED Lab result follow up RN is expected to work independently, using approved protocols which include occasional consultation with ED providers.

The RN will contact certain patient’s, as per protocol, with lab results and used RN assessment skills, document telephone encounter in Epic, send Rx’s in appropriate pharmacy’s, as per protocol, educate patient/parent as indicated per protocol.The RN works with ED provider, ED nurse’s, ED and Hospital station secretaries, Fairview laboratory staff, numerous clinic’s, nursing home nurses, assisted living nurses and group home caregivers.Having a good understanding of microbiology will be a plus.The ED lab result RN is accountable for quality assessment; efficient management ofcare and client satisfaction.In addition to the management of these lab results, the RN also works in partnership with the Lung nodule clinic at the U of MN.

Per step by step guidelines/protocols, the RN reviews the results, charts appropriately, notifies Patient of recommendations, and places orders for CT’s and Lung nodule referrals, and coordinates appointments with Lung nodule clinics.

RN will need to have a good understanding of lungs nodules.Qualifications:RequiredCurrent Minnesota RN License3-5 years RN work experienceWisconsin RN License within 60 days of employment PreferredComputer skills: able to document effectively in electronic health record softwareRN Triage experience
