In addition to pediatric cardiology, Sunrise Children’s Hospital also features Nevada’s largest, most comprehensive 72-Bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), 24-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and 14-bed inpatient pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), the only one of its kind in Nevada today.
The CICU is a 12,000 square-foot unit dedicated to the treatment of congenital heart defects, heart rhythm disturbances and heart disease in infants and children.
As Las Vegas’ largest acute care facility (762 beds), Sunrise provides sophisticated inpatient and outpatient services to the community.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Employee Health Program and the Workers’ Compensation Program in conjunction with the Director of Safety and Support Services, Human Resources Department and Infection Control when indicated and appropriate.
The Employee Health Nurse/Injury Coordinator shall maintain a program to determine suitability of all candidates for employment and that they are physically able to perform the duties in the position for which they are assigned and are free from communicable diseases.
The Employee Health Nurse/Injury Coordinator will provide employees with prophylaxis from communicable disease, follow up care for work related injuries.
Assist with education of personnel regarding the principles of Infection Control in conjunction with the Infection Control Nurse when indicated and appropriate.
The Employee Health Nurse/Injury Coordinator will work with and coordinate with the Safety Director in the post injury investigation of all injuries and provide data and trending information on injuries.
The Employee Health Nurse/Injury Coordinator will work with the Safety Management Team in the development of programs that are geared to the proactive prevention of injuries through investigation and remediation of hazards in the workplace.
The Employee Health Nurse/Injury Coordinator shall, in person or through others, provide inservice Orientation for new employees and inservices as necessary to other employees related to injury prevention and prevention and use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s).
The Employee Health Nurse/Injury Coordinator shall be familiar with Hazardous Materials as they relate to potential injuries and methodology for the prevention of such injuries and exposures.
The Employee Health Nurse/Injury Coordinator shall be versed in the monitoring and identification of Indoor Air Quality for the prevention of exposure, exposure controls, and remediation of IAQ issues.
INTERACTIONS:
The Employee Health Nurse/Injury Coordinator is charged with the responsibility of informing the Environment of Care Executive Committee, or it’s Chairperson, on all matters with regard to the status of the facility injury rates and identified trend in injuries.
He/She will ensure that all Employee Health policies and procedures are in compliance and consistent with the established Safety Management Program, State and local laws and OSHA regulations.
Employee Health Nurse/Injury Coordinator
He/She will be responsible for overseeing insurance carrier and their relations to the facility for coverage of the Workers’ Compensation Program.
He/She shall report to the Injury Prevention Subcommittee of the Environment of Care Executive Committee on the conclusions, recommendations, actions and effectiveness of the Employee Health Program at each of its meetings.
He/She will also review and make recommendations for safety issues identified through his/her monitoring activities or through the Reporting Systems of the Facility.
He/She must interact with visiting agencies to ensure accurate information transfer.
He/She shall interact with the Hospital Risk Manager in matters requiring investigation.
He/She shall be a member of the Injury Prevention Subcommittee of the Environment of Care Executive Committee.
He/She shall participate in incident reporting and investigation on a regular basis.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
BSN from an accredited school of nursing
Experience :
Employee Health RN experience; minimum of 4 years of health related work
Minimum of 2 years nursing clinical experience in an acute care facility
Knowledge of Workman’s Compensation
Knowledge of Injury Prevention
Knowledge of Infection Control
Licensure :
Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Nevada
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :
Leadership abilities in planning and implementing Employee Health and Workers’ Compensation Programs
Supervisory Experience in the management of personnel and interpersonal relationships
Organizational ability to plan, coordinate, assess data and make appropriate recommendations
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Knowledge of educational principles
