The Clinical Staff Responder/Mobile Integrated Health Clinician (MIH Clinician) will be embedded in the South Shore Health Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) program and will provide comprehensive emergency mental health and substance abuse services to individuals and families served by the MIH program. This clinician will provide increased access to crisis services and proactive community response, especially for vulnerable populations, through co-response to community and home visits. The MIH Clinician schedule initially will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. The MIH Clinician will be based at South Shore Health in Weymouth and will attend regular supervision and team meetings at Aspire Health Alliance offices.

  • Provides psychiatric and substance abuse support, education and assessment of individuals and families in crisis or at risk in partnership with the SSH MIH service.                                                                                                                                
  • Serves as a behavioral health clinical team member of Mobile Integrated Health team, working in collaboration with Aspire ESP Team, and when clinically indicated conducting joint visits with the South Shore Health Bridge Clinic to access SUD services.
  • Responds with MIH team on community visits, especially in anticipated crisis situations, but also as part of proactive outreach to provide early identification and response for at-risk individuals to avoid more acute services.
  • Performs mobile crisis evaluations, utilizing crisis evaluation instrument to conduct interviews while co-responding with Mobile Integrated Health personnel as clinically appropriate.
  • Works with clients and families to explore community support for mental health, substance use and basic needs.
  • Provides intervention services including crisis case management and short-term crisis counseling as follow-up to initial evaluations.
  • Maintains linkages with specific community services by providing documented case consultations and problem resolution.
  • Maintains necessary documentation and records in accordance with program requirements.    
  • Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge or managed care and health insurance systems.           
  • Participates in cross training of MIH and Psychiatric Emergency Service staff.     

Required Skills

  • Excellent clinical assessment and intervention skills.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of one-year post-master’s experience in a crisis intervention, homeless outreach, or forensic mental health setting.
  • Experience in assessing adults in crisis as well as competency in assessing children and their families in crisis.
  • Demonstrated experience in working connecting with diverse systems and various client populations.
  • Experience in assessing adults and families for substance use disorders.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work or related filed required.
  • Clinical License preferred.
