Job Summary
Assists Ultrasound Supervisor in overseeing and directing daily workflow of subordinate personnel, engage in operating Ultrasound imaging equipment in order to obtain ultrasound images of designated body areas according to physicians’ specifications.
Presently holds Career Ladder position of Clinical Sonographer or equivalent.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Training
Associate’s degree or one to three years formal training in an AMA approved ultrasound training program is required in addition to Meeting criteria of Professional Practices, Clinical Practices, Leadership, and Quality Improvement as stated by Career Ladder Standard Clinical Sonographer Standard I are required.
Experience
Approximately one to two years of progressively more responsible job related experience.
On The Job Experience
Approximately one to three months to gain familiarity with the Hospital environment, department routines and procedures, and the full range of job duties.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Function as senior resource/team leader and coordinates ongoing workflow activities of Clinical Technologist and staff.
Reviews and makes recommendations for revision of policies, procedures, and regulations.
Distributes and/or implements changes and revisions as necessary.
Prepares patients for Ultrasound exams.
Lifts or assists patient on to and off examination table.
Positions patient for exams, add/adjust ultrasound equipment as required by exam specifications.
Assists in the administration of drugs.
Administers or assists in the administration of contrast agents.
Reviews Ultrasound’s taken by Clinical Technologist and students to ensure acceptable diagnostic quality and provides technical advice on improving image quality.
Maintain quality control of images taken by Technologist and students, including the verification of patient data and orders.
Performs complex Ultrasound procedures in addition to regular duties of Clinical Technologist.
Processes images and ensure availability for viewing and interpretation on PACS.
Performs daily QA for RIS (Cerner and PACS) errors, i.e.
incorrect examination/data entry, patient information or missing RIS.
May serve as educational resource/mentor to guide and /or coordinate new hires/student instruction.
Participates in quality assurance activities and provides liaison support between physicians, technical staff and department management.
Investigates and reports equipment problems to Biomedical Engineering and the Administrative Director and takes appropriate action to ensure the availability and proper functioning of all Ultrasound equipment.
Collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory compliance as needed.
Collects technical factors in order to develop and maintain technique/best practices.
Assumes clerical duties including the scheduling of patient examinations as required.
Enters data into Radiology Information System (Cerner) for medical records, billing, statistics and quality assurance purposes.
Contributes to research studies, product development, process improvement, and special projects.
Present review of interesting cases at division staff meetings
Participates in departmental or divisional committees and task force.
Present review of professional journal articles or seminars of current practice information at division staff meetings.
Demonstrate clear understanding of hospital policy and procedures in addition to mastery of skill sets need for all routine procedures.
Participates in on-going quality improve and / or quality control.

Schedule: Part Time, Day / Evening / Night Shift with rotating weekend, Saturday and Sunday: 700pm
– 700am.
