Clinical Program Assistant

This is a Full-time position in Providence, RI posted December 26, 2021.

Summary:Under the general supervision of the Injury Prevention Center Program Officer the Program Assistant performs a variety of activities to support the Center and its community outreach programs including but not limited to screening potential car seat participants coordinating and providing community-based education programs and installing car seats.Responsibilities:Works with the Injury Prevention Center Program Officer to coordinate and staff community outreach and educational programs on child safety seats and other injury prevention topics to all Injury Prevention Center populations agencies businesses etc.Duties include making presentations in a classroom setting or community center.Also works as part of a group and independently to check car seats and provide information.Attends health fairs and other community events.Some of these events would require working nights and/or weekends.Plays a significant role in coordinating 4-Safety Car Seats in Community Bike Helmet Distribution and other IPC community based programs.Prepares program materials including:photocopying materials assembling necessary supplies creating content for website filing materials making follow-up phone calls emailing community partners sending faxes assisting in mailing and maintaining necessary files and data.Represents the IPC by serving on a committee(s) with community residents police officers traffic safety experts and other community agency members to plan and implement community events.Takes minutes and distributes.Attends other project committee meetings as needed.Takes minutes and distributes.

Provides materials as needed.Serves as a liaison between communities and the program.Performs other related tasks as necessary.Other information:BASIC KNOWLEDGE:High school graduate or General Equivalency Diploma.Successful completion of NHTSA Child Passenger Safety Technician training program within 3 months of hire.Ability to speak in front of groups to make presentations/ speak at community events.Current and valid drivers license to transport car seats in Community van and attend community events.Proficient typing skills are required in order to prepare a variety of materials some such as grant proposals and manuscripts requiring a precise format.Should be proficient in Microsoft Word and Access.Must also perform data entry.Good knowledge of English grammar punctuation and spelling to correct and edit written materials; understanding of medical terminology is most often required.In addition to speaking English the ability to speak in Spanish is required; reading/writing Spanish is preferred.A high level of organizational skills to prepare complex schedules and conference arrangements and to maintain departmental files records and statistical data.The ability to perform analysis of numerical data involving the use of mathematical formulas as well as routine tabulations.Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of personnel both within and outside of the hospital.The ability to operate a variety of office equipment is required.EXPERIENCE:One year of experience specializing in correspondence typing and general business procedures.At least six months to one year experience is required including the period of on-the-job training to learn procedures specific to the department.Community work experience preferred.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Working conditions are generally good with little discomfort due to noise heat dust etc.Position requires some heavy lifting and transporting of car seats and other project items.Considerable walking may be required to gather and distribute materials around the hospital.INDEPENDENT ACTION:Performs independently within the departments policies and practices.Refers specific complex problems to the supervisor when clarification of departmental policies and procedures are required.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:None.Lifespan is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
