In this position you will:
RESOURCE UTILIZATION:
Accountable for factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the planning and delivery of nursing and other services.
Utilizes staffing management principles to assure adequate supply of all necessary staff to perform patient care.
Plans for seasonal fluctuations and anticipates market changes which may impact volumes.
Explores options for expanding services and providing different services, operationalize options in collaboration with leadership to meet patient care needs.
Exercises independent judgment to implement plans for operations in areas of responsibility.
Develop, implement and maintain the annual operating budget to meet hospital strategic goals and support functions involving staff and physicians, as appropriate.
Ties budgetary function to Strategic Planning of department.
Demonstrates stewardship for financial resources actively leading and participating in cost control programs as established by the organization.
Monitors financial performances and takes timely constructive and corrective actions.

QUALITY OF PRACTICE:
Systematically enhances the quality & effectiveness of nursing practice, nursing services administration & the delivery of services.

Working collaboratively with the staff, providers, and leadership team, develops, modifies and implements patient care standards, policies, procedures and protocols.
Establishes clear clinical practice expectations based on professional standards for areas of responsibility.
Working collaboratively with the staff, providers, and leadership team, develops and implements the unit-based QI plans, incorporating appropriate aspects of the PH&S quality strategic plan.
Indicators are identified and improvement processes utilize PDCA structure.
Assures that Quality Improvement targets, action plans and concurrent data charts are posted in all units and that staff is engaged and supported in meeting / exceeding these targets.
Intervenes as needed.
Values and uses customer feedback to optimize necessary services, addressing issues and requests, and intervening in a timely manner.
COLLABORATION:
Assigns work and responsibly directs staff.
Creates systems that enable staff to jointly plan and deliver care, providing them with the skills and knowledge so they can have authority over their practice.

Establishes, nurtures and role models collaborative and supportive relationships with staff, physicians, health care facilities and the statewide community.

Collaborates with colleagues within the organization for the purpose of furthering the goals and objectives of PH&S and PAMC.
COMPLIANCE:
Directs and administers assigned functions to ensure high quality, cost-effective patient services which meet or surpass accreditation standards.
Maintains and guides the implementation of organization policies and procedures in compliance with state, Federal and other regulatory guidelines.
Assures adequate preparation for, and participate in, regulatory compliance surveys.
Participates and encourages patient safety initiatives, variance reporting, and root cause analysis.
Prepares and submits reports on operations as required, including audits as requested.

Collaborates with physicians and staff to incorporate these protocols and standards into patient care.
• Advocates for and assists in the development, implementation and modification of programs and services needed to meet patient care and staff development needs.
ADVOCACY: Advocates for the protections and rights of individuals, families, communities, populations, healthcare providers, nursing and other professions, and institutions and organizations, especially related to health and safety.

COMMUNICATION:
• Consistently employs a variety of communication methods best suited for all staff to ensure two-way communication and collaborative monitoring of facility operations and targets.
• Makes regular clinical and leader rounds a priority to support PH&S initiatives.
• Schedules regular meetings with direct report staff to provide supervision, assure communication and to monitor facility operations.
Serve as Chief Nurse Executive’s (CNE) designee as assigned by the CNE in hers/his absence.
Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served.
Qualifications :
Required qualifications for this position include:
• Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing.
• Master’s degree required or will be obtained within 30 months of hire.
• Either Bachelor degree or Master’s degree must be in nursing.
• 3 years in a leadership role.
• RN, Licensed in Alaska.
• Certification in management or clinical specialty within 12 months of hire.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Cardiac ICU experience
• Acute Care Manager experience
