Clinical Charge Capture Analyst RN

COORDINATION OF PATIENT CHARGES:

Analyzes outpatient medical records and assign charge codes per documentation.

Attends meetings and seminars as necessary to stay aware of changes in billing and coding field.

Coaches employees to improve identified deficiencies in documentation

Assists with the maintenance of all charge sheets for nursing departments.

EDUCATION:

Theories and principles of education are utilized to support the educational development of staff and self.

Collaborates with nursing leadership and patient billing services to identify educational needs of staff as it relates to documentation necessary to charge accurately.

Provides inservices to staff as necessary to improve documentation

COST EFFECTIVENESS:

Productivity is maintained through activities which focus on resource utilization and reimbursement enhancement.

Explores all billable events in the nursing departments for possible revenue enhancement.

Evaluates current nursing billing processes for potential improvements.

Develops and maintains financial tracking tool to document improvement in revenue generation.

QUALITY OF CARE/SERVICE:

Leadership is provided in the utilization of CQI principles to continuously improve and evaluate charging process for services

Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities for department.

Collaborates with the management team and staff to develop and utilize quality indicators to monitor accuracy of documentation and charging.

Education:

As required by licensure.

BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred.

BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO.

Experience:

Two years hospital-based, acute care nursing experience required.

Understanding of outpatient charging methodology preferred.

Skills:

Ability to coach clinical staff in accurately documenting billing charges.

Current knowledge of clinical documentation processes.

Basic familiarity with computers preferred.
