DescriptionSummary:The Pastoral Care Coordinator works collaboratively with the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word to celebrate their wisdom, deepen their prayer life, grieve their losses in aging and transition, assist them in continuing to live a meaningful personal and community life, and support them in their preparation for entry into eternal life; participates as a member of the Health and Wellness team.

This is accomplished in accordance with the mission, vision and values of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.Supports the Sisters residing at The Village at Incarnate Word (TVIW) in deepening their personal and spiritual growth.Journeys with the Sisters through life’s celebrations and challenges.Accompanies the Sisters during illness and during times of hospitalization.Supports the Sisters in addressing end of life issues with autonomy.Being present with Sisters who are transitioning into eternal life with their friends, families, and co-workers.Collaborates with the General Leadership Team, the Health and Wellness staff, the CCVI Health Advocacy Team, health care providers, the TVIW staff, and other designated individuals.

Pursues opportunities for professional development in gerontology and spiritual care.Complies with all safety policies and procedures by practicing good safety and health habits while performing duties.Supervises and coordinates the growth and operations of the Pastoral Care team.

Performs other duties as assigned by the General Leadership Team.Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree requiredGraduate Degree preferred: Social Work, Gerontology, Psychology, Religious Studies, Theology, Nursing or equivalent1 unit CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent) required, full year preferredMinimum of one year supervised ministry in a setting with emphasis on elder care and aging, such as a long term care setting/senior care center/hospice/aging outreach program.Well developed communication and listening skillsUnderstanding of Catholic Medical Ethics and basic medical termsEmotionally and spiritually matureWell-grounded in relationship to God and practice of prayerAbility to function under stress and to cope with crisis and grief situationsExperience with, and ability to be present, supportive and compassionate when engaging all Sisters, especially those living with dementia and memory lossAble to multi-taskAbility to function independently and in a team setting Valid driver’s license with ability to drive when necessaryAbility to assist Sisters in and out of vehicles/buildings (with or without adaptive equipment)Work Type: Full Time
