DescriptionSummary:Working under the supervision of a nurse, the Certified Nurse Assistant II acts as the primary clerical resource for the unit as well as performs various patient care activities.
This is a dual role position which functions as a Certified Nurse Assistant and a Unit Secretary.
This position serves as an important link in the communication chain ensuring information is transmitted between nursing personnel, other hospital personnel, physicians, patients, family members and guests.Shoreline Cardiovascular Step-Down is a 27-private bed unit that specializes in cardiac care for patients who have had open heart surgery.
We see cardiovascular/thoracic patients and families that are post CABG, heart caths, valve replacements, thoracotomies, and many other cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
We also see general medical surgical patients that may have a primary cardiac diagnosis/history with co-morbidities that may need telemetry monitoring, as well as those patients needing critical cardiac drips.
On 6NT, we train our staff to detect medical issues before they become a problem, so they can respond to those emergent situations quickly and confidently.
We have many opportunities for assessments, patient/family teaching, IVs, wound care, lab value analysis and medication administration/ management.
Our average nurse to patient ratio is 5:1.One beautiful thing about 6NT is we are a heart floor in a heart hospital, so our beds are in high demand, are typically full, and our staff is rarely cancelled.

Requirements:High School diploma or equivalent.Strong customer service skills and computer literacy is required.
Previous experience as a Nurse Assistant/Unit Secretary in a hospital setting preferred.
Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.Current Texas CNA CertificationCPR (American Heart Association)Work Type: Full Time
