Come join our expanding MFM Team, with multiple locations. This position will be responsible for supporting our rotating provider assignment caring for our diverse patient clientele and high rish obstetics. No nights or organizationally recognized holidays required. Occasional weekend shift may be requested. JOB SUMMARY: Provides, delegates and coordinates care of patients for the Perinatal Clinic. Accountable to lead, supervise, manage and carry out patient care decisions and care. Accountable for the planning and delivery of patient focused care, in partnership with physician, interdisciplinary team, and patient/family. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSProvides education, counseling and care to high risk and diabetic patients and their families. Ensure that the patient or family understands follow-up and referral information. Provide general health education within own level of expertise and as directed by practitioner and nurse supervisor.Ensure patient privacy and comfort during the exam; instruct patients in the collection of samples and other tests. Provide patient mobility assistance, as necessary. Obtain and record vital signs and other appropriate information, to include OB intake, patient history and maternal-fetal assessments. Document all procedures and interactions in patient’s medical record.Performs nursing physical assessments or nursing diagnosis, may include cervical exams. Administers patient medications via PO, Subq, IV and IM. Assists with amniocentesis and ultrasound procedures. Assist with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures to appropriate level of training and established procedures. Facilitates admission of patients to the Labor and Delivery unit and patient flow to ensure enough time for patient and family education. Assess pregnant patients for labor, either pre-term or active labor at term. Assess post partum status i.E. Activities of Daily Living, Physical Assessment, Bonding with Infants, Birth Control Needs and Lactation Process. Refers to providers for appropriate follow up.Responds to patient telephone calls using approved protocols; ensuring documentation of the phone calls meets standards. Inform patients of lab results, call in prescriptions to pharmacies and return practitioners’ phone messages.Under supervision of practitioner, administer medications. Start intravenous lines and administer intravenous fluids with appropriate certificationClean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam roomsclean and orderly; dispose of contaminateditems according to FMG Exposure Control Plan.. Anticipate Practitioner’s needs for medications, supplies and equipment and plan accordingly.Actively participate in continuing education and meetings. Attend required meetings and participates in committees as requested. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. Other: Performs related duties as required.QualificationsEducation/ Work Experience:High School Diploma or GED required.Graduate of accredited school of Registered Nursing approved by the WA State Board of Nursing required. BSN preferred. Must have experience with Diabetic Education.Within the last two (2) years, one (1) year of nursing experience in a clinic setting or two (2) years of acute hospital nursing experience preferred. Licensure/Certifications:Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Washington State Board of Nursing.Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification. CommonSpirit Health participates in E-verify.
