Job Summary: The MLT rotates in the various sections of the clinical laboratory as assigned, performs special procedures as required in a medical laboratory which may include, but is not limited to, hematology, special chemistry, chemistry, blood bank, microbiology, serology, and urinalysis.
They will also solve practical problems, deal with a variety of issues and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Degree from approved MLT program or, ASCP or equivalent registry – or – Currently enrolled in an accredited MLT program Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Prior work experience as an MT/MLT (ASCP) preferred Must have capability to conduct all aspects of procedural and instrument troubleshooting, method evaluation, establishment and maintenance of acceptability of test results for their section Must have the ability to ensure optimal communication of information with healthcare professionals Must possess excellent customer service skills Must exhibit the technical ability and problem-solving skills to perform all tests (both manual and automated) in the clinical laboratory.
Must display good interpersonal skills Must display good communication (written/verbal) and organizational skills Knowledge of chemical, biological, and mathematical principles, laboratory instrumentation, method principles, and techniques Position requires fluency in English language to function in job environment appropriately Must exhibit desire to exemplify the BSA culture, including the BSA Mission, Vision and the BSA Way
