The Cell Therapy Custom & Process Analytics department is seeking a Scientist to support novel technology evaluation and development to address unique analytical and process challenges in cell therapy.
The Custom & Process Analytics team is responsible for delivering novel, high throughput, and phase-appropriate analytics to support pre-clinical cell therapy programs and platform technologies.
The primary focus of the Scientist – Custom & Process Analytics role will be to evaluate current technical gaps in analytical strategies across a diverse portfolio of programs and platforms and to identify and develop potential analytical technology solutions.
Successful candidates will have a strong foundation in immunology and experience with on-boarding and optimization of a broad range of in vitro cell-based and molecular assays.
This role is highly collaborative and requires a demonstrated ability to coordinate projects with cross-functional teams and independently design and execute studies to meet project goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Evaluate technical gaps and current challenges in cell therapy manufacturing and analytics, and internally develop or onboard new technologies to deliver phase appropriate solutions.Optimize existing cell based methods and flow cytometry assays for integration with automated systems.Identification and prioritization of novel analytical approaches for interrogating gene engineered T cell function and process performance.Develop and maintain relationships with external collaborators and service providers to deliver new technologies and/or analytical strategies in cell therapy.Participate in cross-functional teams to support the development of early-stage, preclinical gene engineered T cell therapeutic programs and platforms.Design well-controlled and informative experiments to fully evaluate new technologies or analytical strategies for robust performance across programs and/or platforms.
Explore efficient data analysis and data management strategies.Mentor and train technical scientists in the laboratory.Perform and manage instrument and method troubleshooting.
Qualifications and Education RequirementsBS and 10+ years/MS and 8+ years/ PhD in Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology, or relevant disciplineProven ability to work in a high paced team environment, meet deadlines, & prioritize work on multiple projects.Strong foundation in immunology and/or cell biology including experience with primary immune cells.Expertise in multi-parameter flow cytometry and in vitro T cell functional assays.Demonstrated experience working with external collaborators or partners to solve technical or biological challenges.Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail.Demonstrated independence in experimental design, data analysis, interpretation, and presentation.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with standard and next generation analytical platforms for the characterization of T cell phenotype, differentiation, activation, and function.Demonstrated experience in leadership roles providing scientific mentorship.Track record of successful internal and external scientific collaborations.Experience managing external collaborations with commercial vendors and/or technical experts.Innovative technology/platform development, or experience repurposing existing technologies in novel ways.
